When your team is out of it, nothing wrong with looking ahead to the offseason market (even if you know your team won't spend a thin dime, like the Rockies).

Soriano and Carlos Lee are the marquee FAs, but whoever gives them 10-15 per is going to have to determine if they are worth paying that much by the time they get to the age of 35-37.
Lee and Barry Zito both hired Scott Boras this season. Boras probably tampered to land them, he's argubly a bigger scumbag than Drew Rosenhaus. I think the best free agent is Aramis Ramirez if he declines his option for 2007. He's only 28 and I think his price tag will be far lower than Soriano and a little less than El Caballo. I hope San Diego lands him to fill their glaring hole at the hot corner. |

I'd like to see the Rockies make up for the blunder they made years ago and bring Juan Pierre back. I'll take him eight days a week over the platoon of Corey Sullivan and Choo Freeman that they've been running out there most of the season. Pierre has stolen 45 bases this season, the Rockies entire team has stolen 64. |
