Much better. We could't have a harder test than KUBES..

Walker is already paying off on 3RD too. He has to be covered.

I fully expected to have more troubles with Kubes, I was pleasantly surprised.

If anyone can gameplan for Shanny it would be Kubiak and Smith...However, I really don't think we looked like a Superbowl contender.

That'll improve a hell of a lot more when Marshall comes in.

The Colts never look like contenders in preseason, and come reg. season, they look on sharp (too bad they cant do it in the postseason ), so dont worry. What we should enjoy from this is that Javon is looking good out there.

Actual Super Bowl winners rarely look like Super bowl contenders in preseason.

I didn't watch the game. I saw Plummer was only 10 of 22. Bad?

I'm not worried, just making an observation. You'd think that a strong Superbowl contender would dominate a team that finished 2-14 last year. I think their team came to play today, and was fired up for the game. What I think this does though is show how limited Jake Plummer can be when the Bootleg is effectively defended against.

I agree. Plummer needs to develop a better pocket presence.

at his age/experience. I he hasn't developed by now, he never will. We have to remember that the Texans defense plays our brand of offense every practice. They practice playing against bootlegs and they someone on backside pursuit every time he rolled out. It won't be like that against most teams.

Yes bad. There was a three and out where he stared down and threw it at Rod Smith three times in a row and Rod was double covered every play.

At the beginning of the third quarter? The announcers said we were running a slowed down version of the two minute drill....if thats true, not only was it slowed down it was non-existent.

what were the yardages for the third downs though?

jay had some good boots, one where he threw to cobbsi think, prob coulda run it for some good yardage, he seems to be very fast with the boot, drops the hips well at the turn and bursts pretty fast to the outside. im sure well continue to use that in short yardage. kyle johnson also had some great blocking and that will be very appreciated. id like to see a big body like maybe cobbs get in there for short yardage in the 12, 22, or even 23 packages that they were running today. if we want to run that 23 package we will definitely be keeping atleast 4 TEs including leach, maybe even 5. not so sure about that

Hey, I've been lurking for a while here, and while most of the time I agree with stuff you post, I think you're wrong here. While Rod was covered, a big part of the bad numbers for Plummer in this came arose from drops. The aforementioned one by Kircus was one that stuck out, and there were at least 2-3 catches that Rod normally makes that he didn't today, for whatever reason.

Kircus did have a drop, but that "hurry up" offense they ran where Plummer went three and out they just doubled Rod, and Plummer from snap to throw was just staring at him.

I was disappointed that Scheffler only got two looks tonight... One an early six yard gain, and the other a second down incompletion. I'd like to see us get more production from him on third downs.

I don't know that I'd used the phrase "much better" to describe our third down efforts tonight. Nor do I agree that Kubes defense was such a huge test for us. It's Kubes, but it's still the Texans.

We played 4 teams who drafted in top 10 in 06 draft. We weren't tested besides we don't take preseason as seriously as these teams do.

Would have liked to see more of him, and maybe a few more throws to our 3rd WR options. I mean, did we really settle anything tonight in that regard?

Would have liked to see Nash get some carries, but I guess his knee is acting up. Big bummer, there. He still looked the most interesting of any back I've seen out there. Missing this game killed any chance he had of making a move... and probably same with Dayne.

I don't buy the idea that the Broncos don't take the preseason as seriously as any other team. In fact, I believe it's just the opposite. I'm suprised at that take. Shanahan is still our coach, right?

What I was trying to say teams like the Texans who are trying to develop a winning attitude in preseason want it slightly more then we do. We already know how to win.
