I don't think it's considered serious, but he didn't play any of the 2nd half, which he was scheduled to. He took a lot of hits last night by Seattle and fumbled three times. Anybody who plays the Chargers this year should blitz him like crazy.

Look for a weakened shoulder through the year and a rotator cuff problems somewhere in the next six or eight games. He be smacked bad.

But San Diego is the best team to never make the playoffs!
Don't talking heads ever get tired of that pontification? Diaper Boy looks mean tho. 1. Denver 12-4 2. Kansas City 9-7 3. San Diego 8-8 4, Oakland 7-9 |

If Rivers isn't 100% all year, the Chargers are in trouble.

looks like its minor. you'd hope that for any player. i'd rather crush the chargers with all their players at full strength and not have to hear any injury excuses. |

Rivers really only took one good shot last night and he did fumble.
The other two fumbles came very early in the game and were a bit bizarre. He dropped the ball before going for a play-action fake and the other was a center-quarterback exchange fumble. I didn't think he played very well last night but San Diego's defense is looking real good at the moment. The Seahawks pretty much got a free fourteen points from the fumbles and couldn't move the ball much the entire game. They reported on the broadcast that the injury was minor and he would have played in the second half if it wasn't a preseason game. |

Total agreement here, Bolt fans. He's a got a Billy Joe Tolliverish/Craig Whelihanish quality that harkens back to your rich tradition of quarterback play.

Brees was better.
Good to hear Rivers is ok, though. |

I don't know about that it's easy to say that since they are a rival team but. time will tell. Brees doesn't look good without best TE and RB in the game. I think SD will drop off a little for the learning curve but Rivers has alot more tools than Brees.

If Rivers can be adequate the Chargers will be one hell of a tough team not only this year but for the next several.
Honestly I like them to win the division and the Mules to be a WC team. Defensively the Bolts are loaded, Merriman is a flat out stud in the making, wish we had him in Oakland. LT can run the ball a little as well. I think the Bolts have done a great job rebuilding. Picking top ten for a decade eventually pays off I guess. |

And regarding the other post about the first two fumbles, yes they were bizarre because they happened nearly back to back at the beginning of the game. |

I agree they have a great team this year and would be in the running for the division title and possibly a playoff run, however, while Schotty is running the team, they are going nowhere fast. |

It's easy to say because it's true. The staff started Brees ahead of Rivers two years in a row and only let Brees go because he was hurt and the GM wanted to unlock the money wrapped up in two positions.

Rivers might've had trouble handling the ball on two plays saturday, but so far his preseason performance has been pretty decent. I was at the game and he didn't look upset, or frustrated, which I imagine he would have been if he'd actually been injured. He got slammed to the ground and his arm got bruised.
He'll be fine, and most importantly, he doesn't have to play @ Denver until he has a few games under his belt. |

The Bolts are loaded defensively? Could have fooled me. That secondary is ****.

where the hell did the charger trolls come from? this is...awkward...
but to answer the question about the secondary, antonio cromartie looks like a stud in the making, shredded knee ,imbecelic behavior and all |

Cromartie has shown incredible make up speed in coverage. The run defense is elite, as most people know. Of course, this is all preseason so it could go all out the window but the pass defense has looked great so far. |

I don't really think I'm being a troll. I haven't posted anything meaningless, derogatory, off-topic, or offensive. But hey, it's your forum.
At any rate, I think the West is up for grabs this year, aside from fourth place, which is reserved for Oakland... |

nah I wasn't saying that your comments in particular were trollish, its just we're used to raider and chiefs fans coming for a visit, but very rarely charger fans, and even more rarely charger fans in numbers.

The Chargers defense isn't stacked, their front seven is. And no matter how good their front seven is, it doesn't change the fact that they have one of the worst secondaries in the league.

If McCree's what he's played up to be, it's a step up, but really SD's defense shows what a stud front 7 can do to hide a pretty weak secondary. Though it could be Jammer's adjusting to the rules that take away Ty Law's game. I'm not sure I'd be hearted by Florence being better than Davis, though. Might be like saying Walls was better than Shoate.
btw, nice to see bolt fans. I think you're in for a long year with Rivers though. Last edited by bendog; 08-28-2006 at 09:05 AM.. |
