Default The Squiefs Can't Let GO!

The Kansas City Chiefs have left the door open for starting OLT Willie Roaf, who announced his retirement one month ago. "I probably won’t close it until [the 10th game of his season]," GM Carl Peterson said. "I will give him ample opportunity to change his mind. I know what he said, but I also know what he told his agent. His agent thinks that Willie still wants the door open for the opportunity to come back. I’m going to respect that." Roaf is on reserve/did not report and will not count against the 53-man roster because he didn’t participate in training camp. But he will count against the salary cap. Peterson expressed disappointment that Roaf, a 11-time Pro Bowl left tackle, has not returned his phone calls and hasn’t spoken to HC Herm Edwards recently. He also questioned talk that Roaf may wait a year and return in 2007. "Next year would be very difficult," he said. "He’s going to be (37) next year, and to sit out an entire year at that age. But in my mind, Willie can still play and still play at a very high level. I would like to hear from him, personally."

What a Punk Ass Biotch! Move On, the best part is it still counts on the CAP!

Boob is still wearing his 77 jersey waxing poetic! LMAO

Lame. I also can't believe they are b****ing about Roaf not returning their phone calls...the man said he was DONE, get over it and quit calling him.

Jeez, let the guy retire and move on! Herm sounds like a friggin telemarketer blowin up his phone! Here's the next article we'll be reading:

"After several unanswered and unreturned phone calls to recently retired OLT Willie Roaf, Chief's coach Herm Edwards has offered a one-year deal to Willie's cousin Steve who happened to be at Willie's mama's house when the phone call came in.

In other news, Edwards has also offered a three year deal to the exhumed corpse of Derrick Thomas in an attempt to shore up the Chiefs' linebacking corps. "

Forget that. If Roaf had suddenly retired on the Broncos I'd hope shanny would, on a daily basis, back a dump truck full of pizzas and women of ill repute up to his doorstep. Remember when Zim "retired" and Elway went to the Sturgis rally to talk him out of it? You lose a guy like that and you do EVERYTHING you can to change his mind. I think people are nervous Willie WILL eventually change his mind. I know I am.

Very true, but if the guy won't return his phone calls, I think they should back off him for now. IIRC, Zimmerman at least left the door open to returning.

You're right about that with Zim ... good point.

In retrospect, though ... Zim shouldda stuck for ONE more year:

I remember Schlereth after Denver won superbowl XXXIII he was talking about Zim and how he had shoulder problems and he told Schlereth that he didn't need to hang on and he wasn't greedy like Stink wanting to get the repeat. He could leave the game behind rather easily.

I don't know. We did basically the same thing with Gary Zimmerman.

Maybe Kyle Turley can be to the Chefs what Tony Jones was to us?
