If there was a mythical QB draft for your starting QB(not for Fantasy Football) for the 2006 and 2006 season only, Jake Plummer would go top seven (possibly as high as five but no later that seven). We are not drafting on potential, just for the 2006 season. We are basing this draft of last year's production, injuries, and age.
Top seven QBs for the 2006 season would be: * Obviously, Peyton Manning * Obviously, Tom Brady * Donovan McNabb * Matt Haselback * Jake Delhomme * Ben Rothliesberger * Jake Plummer --- Jake Plummer 7th best QB in the league for the 2006 season? How can you say that? Well, let us go down the list of why the following players would not be selected before Plummer: *Eli Manning -- All potential at this point. Had the worst completion precentage of all starting QB's last year. Until he puts it together, Plummer is above him. *Michael Vick -- All potential at this point. Negatives: gets injured a lot, not that great of passer. For the 2006 season, you got to go with Plummer until Vick establishes himself as a legit QB. * Trent Green -- He is a hell of a lot older, not as mobile and has benefited from playing behind a hall of fame line. He is due for a drop off. * Carson Palmer -- He is coming back from a torn knee. You would want Palmer for the future, but if you were just playing for the 2006 season, you would have to take Plummer because he is healthy and Palmer is not. *. Daunte Culpepper-- See above. *. Chad Pennington -- See above, above. *. Byron Leftwhich-- No one in their right mind thinks Leftwhich is a better QB than Plummer at this point. Has a troubling history of injuries. Stats aren't that good either. *. Mark Brunell --- He's too old, not as mobile. *. Steve McNair -- Has a bad history with injuries and he is getting older. Not a good combination. *. Drew Bledsoe -- Much older, less mobile, and Plummer had better stats than him last year. I would pick Plummer over Bledsoe. I'm sure a lot of people would too. *. Drew Brees -- Coming off a baaaaaaaad shoulder injury. And the rest of the QB's are not even worth mentioning(Brooks, Warner, Griese etc) because Plummer is a much better QB. Who would have thunk it? Jake Plummer is one of the best QBs in the entire league. WOW. Soopa Bowl here we come, baby! |

Shhh... keep that Plummer stuff quiet.... No one wants to hear about him right now, with the annointed one waiting in the wings and all... Jake's just one INT from the bench, u just wait and see.

Plummer is great. I think this year is going to be his best year. He's got two pro bowl wr's, Rod won't get doubled teamed as much, and sheff is going to be better than putz this year, plus our running game. Jake is surrounded by great coahces and playmakers. There is no way he can fail, and it's going to be fun watchin him and this offense. and you're right. Super Bowl here we come!

I think the Snake is the better of the Jakes - I'd take Plummer ahead of Delhomme.
I'd probably rate Jake slightly ahead of Haselback. But I'm an unabashed homer. |

I would take Palmer over Jake, Palmer is gonna be the best QB this year I think (as long as his knee holds up!) |

Palmer is going to best QB this year? You are out on an island on that one. The guy tore every ligament in his knee and you think he is going to play the full 16 game schedule at a level higher than anyone in the league? Whooooooo. Good luck with that one. |

So Denver's got a Top 7 QB only because 2 guys who are absolutely better than him when healthy, aren't, and Eli still hasn't put it together yet? Wow, let the celebration begin.

the point was for THIS SEASON ONLY, and considering this season and ONLY this season is what matters, you'd be pretty crazy to want palmer over plummer, even moreso considering our offense. also, i'd take plummer over delhomme, hasselback, and roethlisburger. the steelers have largely won DESPITE roethlisburger and not because of him. even in his "masterful" afc championship performance, he threw FOUR interceptions. we just didnt catch any of them. plummer is one of the best qb's in the league right now, though there are many out there who will surpass him in the next couple/three years. jake |

The rationalization for taking Plummer over Palmer doesn't hold up. Or Eli for that matter.

Also, why isn't Chris Simms on the list? He should at least get mentioned.

Because Palmer outperformed every quarterback in the league last year, regardless of his injury, and by all accounts, he'll be starting in week one. And also, the fact that you're not factoring potential kind of defeats the purpose of what a draft is about in the first place. |

If you're going to use the injury excuse for Carson Palmer, you shouldn't but Ben Roethlisberger in front of Plummer, considering that Ben is coming off a motorcycle accident and now an injured throwing hand.

Fair enough... If we absolutely cant factor in potential, then so be it... I just like the way Gruden handles his quarterbacks and think the Simms is going to be alright. |

the guy will be a great nfl qb (if he comes back strong), but right now he's nothing more than a good qb (who can make a play in a pinch) on a great TEAM. |

I wouldn't take Simms over Plummer by any stretch. I just think he deserves mention based on potential.
