Default Football and Broncos in Argentina

Hello guys! How are you all?

I'm a bit bored here so I decided to share with you my experiences with football and Broncos in my country.

First of all, I'm NOT the only Broncos fan here! The first encounter I had with a fellow Broncos fan was at a concert about two years ago. It was a free concert so there were a lot of people and I stayed back with my friends just listening and walking around. At a certain time I looked back cause I thought I had seen a Broncos jersey... there he was! A pretty big guy wearing a T. Davis home jersey! After staring at him in awe for a few seconds I walked up to him and asked if he liked football and the Broncos or if he just wore the jersey because he liked it. He said he was a pretty big Broncos fan and that he used to play football. We chatted for a few minutes. It was pretty cool! I had never known a Broncos fan before so it was kind of special. (even more because football ain't a very popular sport here)

This last summer, while on vacation I went to the beach with my brother and a few friends (we all love football) and started throwing the ball. After a while a guy walked toward us and asked if he could play. Of course we let him, so I started talking about football and asked him what team did he like and he said the Broncos! We played every day in that beach, with tackling and all... you should have seen the faces of the people around us! They couldn't believe how hard we were hitting each other. (and most of them didn't know what we were playing! They looked at the ball as it was an UFO or something)
A bunch of people came and asked us kindly what we were doing.
There were also a bunch of tourists from the USA that seemed very surprised that we were playing football!

Here's a little video from those days: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...35&q=NFL+Beach

During that same vacation I saw a truck that had a Patriots license plate. (I have two Broncos stickers in my car, too) Though the Pats are pretty popular here.
I met a hardcore fan of them that even had a tatoo of the Pats logo.

I used to play in a contact football league, too... I even had an interview on TV! I was the QB of one of the teams, so when the TV people asked who was doing the interview the whole team shouted my name. It was pretty cool!
I think no one understood what I was talking about, though.

You might want to check out www.faarg.com.ar
It's the official website of the Argentine football league. The sport is growing quite a bit around here! I don't have time to play there now, but I'll be going back as soon as I can!

Anyway... I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of other stories but I don't want to bore you so...

Have a good one, everyone!

I was watching that tackle and thought "Robert Edwards on the beach" and about 5 seconds later your buddy was headed for reconstructive surgury. You can't scare the natives like that Argentina...they are used to "football players" faking injury to get the sissy flag. Sometimes I think that American FOOTBALL is one of the main reasons we are a SUPERPOWER. We fight with our hands and go into combat with protection like shoulder, rib and thigh pads as well as the rib crushing helmet.

Football is the most Gladatorial of all sports. Very romanesque.

Having previously lived in Argentina, I must say I wish the economy was better, cause i'd move back in a second if so. Loved the people, country, everything about it. Now broncos fans are growing? You're tempting me bud.

Good stuff BA.

Are you going to help us convince the rest of the world that kick ball is not football?

Haha, you know... I discuss a lot with people about that.
The argument everyone gives me is: "How can they call that FOOTBALL? In football you're supposed to kick the ball with your foot! Isn't that the meaning of the name??" At that point I just walk away. They're the ones at a loss anyway. I WILL try anyway though!!

And Mock... I'M THE ONE ON THE GROUND! I recovered the ball in all fairness and my brother got pissed so he clocked me during the celebration.

He did that another time and I ended up in bed for two days without being able to move my neck. He's a dirty player, I tell you...

Oh and Cosmo... we're waiting for you, man!
