Default thought about this scenario?

Running back rotation:

1st string: Mike Bell
2nd string: Tatum Bell
3rd string: Damien Nash

(you could swap 2nd and 3rd as well)

say goodbye to Ron Dayne, he'll be traded before the season.

Yeah, Dayne is in trouble ... doesn't help that his salary is so much higher than Nash or Cobbs.

I think you underrate Tatum, though.

I want to see Cobbs go against a first string D. That dude won't go down! We'll have to see how they do against some real time competition. I have to admit though, they all look better than Dayne.

We are going to trade Dayne for what? We picked him up off the street. I don't know where this high salary stuff comes from either. We didn't pick up any salary, he's getting minimum. No team is going to pick him up if he can't be successful here. Look he's got a bad toe. I think it's possible he's put on IR but I agree...it's more likely that he is history.

Yeah, but Dayne's gettin paid about $800,000 for this year, while the others are like a half-mill and under.

I wonder if Shannahan abides by that old sayin.. "You can't or shouldn't loose your job due to injury".

If Dayne is trying to nurse a 'Tuff toe', he could be put on IR for the year, does anyone know what kind of contract he signed, I thought he just signed one for 3 years.

Cobbs is 2nd in the preseason in rushing right now. Emphasis on the preseason, but still. I think they should keep the bells, nash and cobbs. They need to find more creative ways to keep tatum on the field. make him a reggie bush type that splits wide for passes, runs reverses, anything. you don't keep that game breaking speed off the field. that said, i want my workhorse running back get good steady pops of yardage rather than 1 to 2 yds here and there.

Yeah, we have thought about that scenario, there are at least 3 different thread starters talking about it.

Tell me when the Broncos actually play somebody whose not a friend of Shanahans or is patsy team who couldn't win if they had the top 20 picks in the draft.

Correct!.

Dayne has done it in "real" game.
Nash and Cobbs need to get some run against a real D.

I think Nash, Cobbs, and M. Bell all run harder then Tatum.. I know this board loves Tater but I call it like I see it. Sure he can take it to the house but hell Nash (who is probably the 2nd fastest) could too with those holes Tatum ran through last year, plus he runs harder and appears to have better vision and cut back ability from what I have seen in Training camp tapes.

Cobbs was on our PS last season, he's either on a 53 man roster or out of the league this season.

Powers-Neal should be PS elidgable though. I hope they hang onto him, he had some off-field issues at ND but he's got enough talent to develop into a quality all around FB.

I think Nash is going to find a PS assignment in his near future unless Cobbs falls apart or Nash explodes seeing real competition (not 2nd stringers). He's PS elidgable if I recall and has had some personality issues. No one is going to push Tatum any lower than #2 on the depth chart, he was too good in that role last season.

I'm betting we'll see a Bell/Bell tandem pretty much exclusively this year with Dayne or Cobbs spelling them. The other of those two gets cut, Nash is on the PS and joins the real team with the first RB injury.

I agree. Cobbs looked like a beast. Him and M. Bell are very similar runners.

Dayne signed a two year contract for 2 million.
