i had a draft today, and a few people in my league made some bonehead picks and i had the luxury of being able to take both Jeremy Shockey and Todd Heap. I knew i could trade one of them, but the question is, what should i command for them? I have lots of depth at WR and i got Peyton Manning so i'm looking for a running back. Obviously a team with depth at that position would be willling to give more, but i'd be interested to hear what HB's i could possibly get for either TE.
Let me know what you guys think! |

That's a tough one. For Shockey you might be able to get a guy that is flying under the radar at the moment. I've seen guys like Kevin Jones, Fred Taylor, and Willie Parker fall into the 4th and 5th rounds lately. Shockey is likely a 5th or 6th round pick in most leagues. I guess he could go as high as a 4th, but not as likely. I'd try those three and see how you fair, if no one bites, try the next lower tier, which would be the Mike Bells, Ahman Greens, and Deuce McAllisters. Good luck! RB's will always be of more value than TE's. Just the way it goes, but Shockey is widely considered a top 3 TE. Oh, and the reason I'm suggesting Shockey over Heap. 1. The difference in #'s should be small. Shockey may end up with a few more yards, but Heap likely ends up with equal or more TD's. 2. Steve McNair has shown over the years to really rely upon his TE's. Frank Wycheck was a very good player, but nowhere near the same caliber athlete as Heap. I think you can look for atleast the same #'s as last year from Heap (850 yards and 7 TD's) and quite possibly more!

you should test the market on shockey and heap. i think the general value for shockey is higher but heap will get you about the same points without all the flash. id offer trades with shockey first and then if not accepted, offer trades with heap. it makes other players think that you are "upgrading" your offer by making a second one although you could offer heap first and then shockey and they might think that they are getting a steal because of it. thats a mind game you have to decide.
also, you might want to consider picking up ladell betts. he showed a lot of promise last year(spec. 49ers game) and he could atleast be a starter for week 1, maybe more. |

I might lean towards keeping Heap for pretty much the same reason Oski said. Shockey has the better value but now with McNair in Balt. Heap may put up #s very close to Shockey. Aside from the RBs mentioned above you can maybe get another guy that can have a good rebound year like Jamal Lewis possibly or Deshaun Foster. Who are your RBs and WRs as of now and is there a team in your league that doesn't really have a good starting TE at all? Like I said you might be able to package Shockey with an ok WR that is on your bench to get a better RB. Last edited by MechanicalBull; 08-16-2006 at 08:11 PM.. |

QB - Peyton RB - McGahee RB - Kevin Jones WR - Anquan Boldin WR - Lee Evans TE - Shockey D - Steelers k - Vinatieri BN RB - Willie Parker TE - Heap RB - Duckett WR - Matt Jones RB - Marion Barber WR - Reggie Brown WR - Deion Branch D - Falcons 10 - Team league, so alot of guys THINK they have a legit TE with people like Heath Miller and LJ Smith and Vernon Davis. Fantasy football doesn't give points for potential. I tried Heap for Rudi Johnson but no reply yet ![]() |
