Default David Terrell runs over 8 year old

Didn't see a thread on this......so sorry if it's already been posted....

Terrell runs pattern and into 8-year-old

ENGLEWOOD - A Littleton family got a scare Wednesday afternoon when Broncos wide receiver David Terrell, trying to haul in a pass along the sideline during a team drill, ran into 8-year-old Allison Sheehan.
Sheehan was knocked to the ground, and after she initially was looked at by the Broncos trainers, as well as a paramedic, she walked to another spot to watch the remainder of practice with her family.

"It was really scary," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. "David Terrell ran a fade route over in the end zone and just kind of swiped her off her feet. She got up, she thought she might be hurt, but it looks like she'll be all right."

"I tried to slow down, and I hit her," Terrell said. "I should have just stopped and jumped and then made the play on the ball and then let it go by. . . . I'm sorry about hitting her. She's a tough girl, she needs to come out here and play some football."

During training camp, fans gather on a hillside next to one of the practice fields, and it is a particularly popular spot in the afternoon because the entire area is shaded. So there isn't much room for people to elude a player if the player keeps running toward the crowd.

Terrell said he noticed Sheehan standing just before he looked for the ball, and "when I turned back around, there she was, right there, and I couldn't stop."

Shanahan gave the youngster his hat, Terrell gave her a pair of gloves and she also was given a football. Sheehan also was put at the center of the players after the conclusion of practice to lead them as they shouted "Broncos" before they left the field.
The family had dinner in the Broncos dining hall after practice.

Asked if there was a contract in her future, Shanahan said, "She might be owning the team here shortly."

Boy, Shanny sure is funny......

You gotta do something about the thread title!!!

Shanny was all class, I'm sure he slept well last night, knowing that he did a good think for that little girl to make up for, what could have been a traumatic experience.

Think there is some pressure to make every catch? Ha.

The thread title is misleading, but nice outcome to the story nonetheless.

David Terrell:

On running the fade route into 8-year-old Broncos fan Allison Sheehan
“I saw her out of the corner of my eye. The play was being called and I saw her, I was thinking I hope she sits down. She didn’t sit down and when I turned my back to her I thought, oh no, that little girl is there. I tried to slow down and I hit her. I should have just stopped, jumped and not tried to make a play on the ball and just let her go by. I swear, I saw it happen in my mind as I saw her to the left of me. I am sorry about hitting her, but she is alright. She is a tough girl who needs to come out and play some football with us. I had to go at least try and catch the ball, but I did not want to kill the little girl.”

On making the 53-man squad
“I just look at it like it is just another preseason game. I have been in this league for a while, so I know how to get ready for a football game. For me, it is just going out there and playing football. I am not worried about not making the team. We have a preseason game and as long as I come out here and play, the players are going to play and the coaches are going to coach. I love the NFL Network; other teams can watch us, so I don’t worry about being picked up by another team, if I am the one who gets let go. We have great competition out here. Everyone is working hard and we have a lot of great receivers. Those who make the team I commend, but those who don’t are going to have a chance to make another team. If I am on the team, that’s cool. If not, I will do fine somewhere else.”

No Davida Terrell usually plays WR, though she doesn't do much when "the lights are on."

I'm still holdin out hope for D.T., but why was this little girl anywhere close to the field? But if its Terrell's fault, let the girl get some autographs and go to the next home preseason game and I'm sure that'll be more than enough compensation.

Good thing Sheehan is okay or her mother might stalk Terrell until he made a full withdrawal from Colorado.

No Fred is the Old dude right behind Shanny. He was pretty active this morning needless to say.

Someone conspicuously absent seems to be Terrell. They gave her and mom the queen for the day treatment (on the advice of their lawyer)

This is obviously Fred's fault for allowing people too close to the field. I hope they took dinner, the football and hat out of his pay!
