Default BUSH and RICE Arguing Over Cease-Fire in Lebanon

The news on AirAmerica has Bush and Condi arguing furiously over whether the U.S. should support the cease-fire as Condi wants. She worked hard on it, and it has broad support. So it's not surprising she's really p***ed that Bush said no....

Why do I get the impression that Bushii is back in Crawford, just exercising and making sure his underwear is fresh when the Rapture comes?

Here's what Zbigniew Brzezinski said about Rice's dilemma:

Quote:
What a difference 3 weeks makes. You know the warmongers are in trouble when Lebanese Sunni Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, the US-backed prime minister, who until last week would not hesitate to appear in a photo-op with Condoleezza Rice tells her she is not welcome in Beirut unless she demands and sees to an immediate ceasefire.
We learn one thing from this at least ... Condi is not on board with the NeoCon's "Clean Break."

Condi is falling - slowly - on her way under the "Colin Powell Bus" ...

From COUNTDOWN with KEITH OLBERMANN, an interview with Intelliegence expert John Bamford:
OLBERMANN: Is it Condoleezza Rice herself that the neoconservatives view as a threat? Are they Colin-Powelling her? Or would anyone holding the post of secretary of state prove threatening to this line of thought, because diplomacy really is the antithesis of regime change?

BAMFORD: Well, I think Condi Rice is pretty much a protegee of Colin Powell, who they just couldn‘t stand as secretary of state. And they would prefer to have John Bolton, our ambassador to the U.N., as secretary of state, a fellow neocon.
So they‘re—at every chance they can, I think they‘re going to try to undermine her, and she‘s pushing to get a peace settlement as soon as possible, and I think they would like to delay it as long as possible.

Bamford writes about the coming Iran war in this week's Rolling Stone. Link?

What about the MSNBC quotes in the next post .... or did you just skip over those?

Condi will be thrown under the Colin Powell bus ... and the neocons and "Clean Break" nuts are gonna "recess appoint" John Bolton Secy of State - as soon as the election is over.

Once this election is over - accountability is over. I suspect the s*** will really hit the fan then. Iran war, Scooter pardon, on and on ...

Let the **** hit the fan. If it's time to go, it's time to go. I had a good life if it ends tomorrow. I'm actually getting the point where I really don't care anymore. Have fun and live life to the fullest. You never know when it's going to end.

Perfect summation of the average conservative's attitude re: the kind of world we should bequeath to our children.

That's what I thought. No big deal, just curious. I have three daughters, 23, 20, and 11. I do care about their future. My point was with so much going on in the world what are you going to do. It just seems hopeless sometimes. Why should that be tied to a political affiliation? Just my own personal thought.

I understand the sentiment.

Every once and a while, I'm tempted to give in to the old Jim Morrison "I'm gonna get my kicks before the whole sh_t house goes up in flames" line of thinking, but then I realize this isn't my style.

I plan to fight to the bitter end.

Well good luck posting your thoughts on the internet. If it works, good for you. I'll continue doing what I do. Living life to the fullest and having fun. Lifes too short sometimes.

Yeah I take solace in the infinitude of the universe. OUr galaxy alone has 100 billion suns. There is intelligent life somewhere out there, even if there's none here.

The problem is, though, is that even if the worst happens there will be lots of survivors. It will be hard scrabble, hand to mouth, a miserable existence. The living will probably envy the dead.

And to think it didn't have to turn out that way. Nothing inevitable about it.

Our kind seems determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
