First of all this is all specualtion.
1-shanny names mike bell starter = result tatum unhappy 2-lelie is unhappy we all know about that 3-shanny wants thomas jones but bears need 2 runners with benson ailing 4-bears need a wr so i could see all this pointing to a lelie and bell for thomas jones and pick. Or maybe thomas jones, haynes and a low pick. I know these types of things rarely go down but with cap jumping up and bears having room it could be doable. don't rip on me I know this type of trade has about a 1 % chance of ever going down but it would explain mike bell being named starter over tatum before ever having played. If Bell did get traded for Jones it would make sense. Dayne stays at 3 and we give Jones the shot at taking number 1 from Mike Bell. Not like Mike Bell would even mind being number 2 this yr. Crazy theory I guess but this is how my Bronco brain handles the offseason. |

You don't trade depth like that at the RB position unless TB just gets a bad attitude or something. I mean, what if M. Bell goes down in game 4 of pre-season.....

There is no way I get rid of T. Bell, No way. He can provide instant points from anywhere on the field. He is an immeidiate game changer.

I like Tatum here. I like to think that having change-of-pace guys around to keep an opposing defensive coordinator up late game planning is a good thing.
Lelie is flea market merchandise. Sell her if you can get a reasonable price. Keep her until next week if nobody needs her bad enough yet. One of these weekends somebody's going to decide that she fits in just right and they'll offer enough to walk away with her. |

You want unhappy??
Wait until coaches tell Tatum Bell his services will be needed on Special Teams. Shanahan doesn't let too many players hang out. If they aren't playing, they're playing STs. QBs & the like are generally excluded, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Bradlee Van Pelt plays little Special Teams in the Pre-Season. |

The starting job was Tatum's all he had to do was keep it. Now the job is Mike Bell and i don't think he is going to want to give it up to anyone, not even Thomas Jones. |

As for outperforming, nobody has performed a thing yet this season, let alone Mike Bell who hasn't played in a single NFL game. See what happens Friday then talk about a performance. Then see what happens around week 5 when Mike starts hitting the rookie wall. Coach may hate Tatum, but he's going to have to be on the field because a rookie isn't going to make it a full season with 20+ carries a game. I'm not at camp. I only know what I've read here and what I've seen on TV the last two years. You have to get the ball in a guy like Tatum's hands at least 15 times a game or you're squandering talent. That's my opinion, anyway. If Mike Bell can do those same things plus hit the hole better, I congratulate him on winning the job. (Like I said, I haven't seen him play.) |

I think Tatum Bell is dead on when he says the coaches don't think he can handle more than 10-15 carries/game.
It's not that they don't trust him, it's just that he is a big play threat that either hits a home run or strikes out and you can't have that for your primary back. Bell and Dayne are every down TYPES of backs, their talent is yet to be seen but that is their type. Downhill runners who look for a hole and go. Tatum will average 5-6 ypc but that's because he will have runs over 15 and under 2. Therefore Tatum, if he is willing, is the perfect compliment to either Bell or Dayne. So I say keep him. |
