Actually, it's a bad thing to do. I tried it myself and earned a labor that was absolute hell because the castor oil gives you such bad diarrhea that your body is too tired to have contractions.

I'm sure you know about the nipple stimulation and of course about sex. Obviously you know about that last part, it's why you're in this situation. The nipple thing can work though!

those are all good but Taco dont try all 3 at the same time

Yeah, once it happens, there's a lot of stuff you can't do... even taking a bath (like you said, 'cause of the risk of infection).

How much castor oil did you take, MT? I've always heard that one tablespoon was safe... if the baby's ready, that will start things; if not, it will just clean out your system a little.

Oh it's funny NOW. It wasn't at the time. She wasn't ready to be born and I shouldn't even have been messing with it. Actually when she was born, they said she tested out to be a 37 weeker. I was 6 days from my due date and I was sick of being pregnant.

I took 4 whole horrid, gagging ounces of that crap. I've never had such a horrible disaster. It was so bad that when the diarrhea hit for like the 28th time, I could see an oil slick in the toilet! Consequently I was pooped out ( literally ) that by the time that horror had dragged on for 20 hours, I just quit having contractions. I wish I could take that back and just let things be. It probably would have gone just as fast as my son came. ( 3 hours. )

I can definitely relate...I was always sick of being pregnant through the last few weeks too. Heartburn was something I was constantly dealing with.

4 ounces of castor oil would definitely bring on severe diarrhea..... that would be equal to a quarter cup. I'm surprised you got it down and held it down. Wow. Yeah, it sounds like it was a miserable experience.

Some jerk told me to put it in OJ. Haven't really cared for OJ since. I thought 8 oz. was a cup? All I know is that it was a lot and I kept gagging trying to keep it down.

You're right... 4 ounces would be a half cup (brain fart ). You probably would have been better off taking the castor oil straight up... like a shot and then chase it with the OJ.

Thanks everybody...

On Thursday, August 31st at 11:45pm, my wife and I are being admitted into the hospital, where she will then begin the process of birth induction. With any luck, on September 1st, my son will be born.

Your wife must be so relieved.....and you too. You should be on cloud nine by September 1st. Prayers for an easy birth (and an epidural) for all of you.
