Default Earthquake in Portland

Wow! I just felt a pretty shocking earthquake here. I can't remember ever feeling one like that before. I wonder how powerful it was?

I guess it was a 3.3 and centered virtually right under my feet... It was a short, energetic burst that lasted no longer than 4 or 5 seconds. That doesn't happen very often here. I guess that's the second time that I can remember in the last 7 years.

WOW another one in the Portland area. I remember going through the one back in 1993, and was like what the heck is that... why is my waterbed white capping...

When we first moved to SouthernCali I thought those short burst were kind of fun. -- Right up until the Northridge quake hit. Once you get past one that scares the bejeebers out of you, you just feel differently everytime theres a little rockin' and rollin' going on.

Hmm, I better give the little brother a call and see if he felt it. They're in Milwaukee.

Nothing in Centralia to report TJ. Don't like quakes, that Nisqually one a few years ago scared me big time.

Earthquake n00b!@

Here's your weenie little 3.8 quake here
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/...uw08030839.php

We've had some pretty small stuff around here in the past month with only 10 or so above 3.0 on the scale. Most the time, they are so short in duration, I dont even have time to sit up from my sofa heh. Did you hear it rumbling before it hit? When they happen out here, you can sometimes hear the rumble right before those bad boys hit.

...learn to swim, learn to swim...learn to swim...

Felt lots of tremors down here, and when I lived up in the Bay Area. But, I don't look forward to the next inevitable big one. I have a friend who is 7" tall and the Northridge quake shook him out of his bed, onto the floor.

I'd think someone farting too hard would knock someone who is 7" tall out of bed.

The fault lines over here in the Inland hellhole always concern me Popps. Especially that San Jacinto fault since its the most active fault in California and was responsible for both of last year's 5 point quakes.

Up in your neck of the woods, that Inglewood fault could be one hell of a devastating quake if the whole thing slipped.

The scary thing about any sort of earthquakes in the Portland area is that it isn't very far from Mt. St. Helens, which has shown more seismic activity of late as well...
