I just had wild thought here. I was wondering "Why on gods green earth did Shanahan pick up a worthless POS like Woods after he had been cut by 49ers and the dolts?" Then I thought maybe there's another reason.
Falcons are in need of WR. We want to deal Ashley. Woods clears Falcon waivers, but figures that he can be option of last resort. Shanahan picks up Woods hoping to force Falocns to make a deal for Ashley knowing that he can cut Woods at any time because his contract has no bonus to carry after the cut. |

I like your theory, but IMO if a team would pick up Woods over Lelie, we're not working out a deal for Lelie any time soon.

The poll question makes no sense.
But yes, I think their may be many levels of thinking to Shanny's decision. And I wonder if Marty Johnson was told not to unpack his bags and stay in town..... |

Rashaun's still on his rookie deal, there's no real reason to let him clear waivers and then try to pick him up.

Anyway, I think there might be something to it, or maybe there's a couple guys in camp we're ready to let go now and he wants to put some fresh meat on the team. |

Woods wasn't given a chance elsewhere, but maybe Shanahan saw something in him that would fit his system. I'm not going to judge the guy until I get camp reports from Khan and SoCal...
