Ok Here we go. I was expecting SoCal to start this thread, but he's probably standing in the rain at Dove Valley so I'll just get it going.

So you know all those guys we've been pimping? Well they had bad practices today.

This will be a brief one.

Mike Bell: He had some great runs again and has great vision and quickness. Problem is he fumbled the ball at the goalline.

Kircus: Two drops today and had some route trouble. One was a bad pass, but thow drops is hard when everyone else has good hands.

Scheffler: A drop and a fumble and a bobble. Not a good day for his ball handling abilities. He was lbokcing like a beast today and blew open a huge run on a sort of screen to charlie Adams. Brewster was going nuts on him (in a good way).

Marshall: A fumble, a drop and when he made this great catch over the defenders on a comeback he fell down and didn't run out his catch. After each catch and each carry after the play is dead you run the ball down to the other endzone. He just got up and started walking back and Steve Watson was in his ear screaming.

QB's next.

Jay Cutler: Dude the guy is amazine and is easily the most accurate passer out there. I'm sorry to say he is his more accurate than Jake. He throws lazers and they can't be defended. On a rollout he hit Cecil Sapp right in the hands and Cukwurah had perfect coverage. Jake throws a nice fade which is one of the harder passes to master. He's very good. On another play he was blitzed, held the ball until the last minute and threw it to Cahrlie Adams as he was hit. The ball was high and in and landed in the only place Adams could get it. Smart play.

Jake: He did alright. Made some nice throws. He only threw into double coverage twice and they hit their marks. Nothing bad yet. We haven't really had any intereptions this camp, which is kind of odd. Lots of fumbles today.

BVP: SoCal and I decided that BVP likes to try and get his receivers as injured as possible when he throws. Yes he can hit some guys and he had a nice throw now and again, but the overwhelming theme was that the guy he was throwing to was probably going to get destroyed by a safety or a linebacker.

Parsons: Limited action. Imagine Matt Mauk with more guts and little better arm.

I watched his whole career. I saw a pass slightly overthrown in 88.

Do you think Cutler is #2 by the end of TC?

Two guys really stood out to me.

Brian Clark: He had some grat catches today and got some work on the third and second team. He has a great verticle and nice hands for a track guy. Not a bad player.

David Terrell: These last few practices have been really good for David. He isn't playing with the confidence that Marshall is (or was), but he is being consistant and catching the ball. Might be a sleeper number three.

Darius Watts. Didn't see much action and had a drop. Booooooooo.

What else... Linemen

Chris Kuper: This guy is going to be great Dennison couldn't stop complimenting him. In drills it was hard for anyone to get by him. Dumervil did and I think that was it. His run blocking is pretty good too. I thought it would suck since he isn't coming from a zone system but it's better than advertised.

Dumervill: He was in the offense's backfield a lot and got some sacks and preassure. The kid plays and has a high motor. That motor is what sepperates him from some of the other guys.

George Foster: Man this guy is so big and so bad. He led Dumervil just run around hima and just kind of swatted at him feebly. It's like he doesn't play with any tenacity. He's so huge and looks so strong and he's so blah.

Adam meadows: He praticed today and wasn't that great. Being out of football seems to have affected his play. He was a good size, though. I think he could be alright with some more practice time.

Chad Mustard: He took a lot of snaps on the first team double tight end sets this camp. He blocks well and that's proving to once again be the critical factor in making shanahan's team. The good news is that Chef is getting better.

Linebackers next

It's his. The #3 runs the scout team during the week and Jay won't be learning the offense if he's doing that.

Pretty obvious, don't you think? BVP is seemingly rather limited. To bad because I reallly was pulling for him to do well, but this dance is being taken over by JayCEE.

Does JayCEE need someone help pack his cape after practice? I think I could find nearly three hundred volunteers.....

Can't wait to see him in a game-like situation.

I changed my mind. I'm going to talk about Ernster.

Paul Ernster practiced kickoffs and punts today with Michah Knorr. Ernster is still the farthest kicker. I just hope that it translates to production on the field.

Kircus, Marshall and Mike Bell all looked good on kick returns. I'll answer questions now. I'm tired.

That's a good queestion. It is raining now but it wasn't when we were there. In fact it was quite pleasant.

The reason that it was sloppy is because it was one week into camp and they've been running two-a-days. Players always look bad in the afternoon because they've been working out, running drills and have already had a practice that morning. You're tired, it's hard to focus and and you're not as strong. Ugly stuff usually happens in the evening (including injuries.) Those guys are new so they're going to have bad days.

Cedric Cobbs actually had some nice runs today. He's gotten better. He cut back and ran more fluidly. Nothing amazing, but an improvement. Eric Johnsons had one run that was alright.

Plain and simple, you can't bring a knife to a gunfight. BVP would have out of the league a long time ago had Shanahan not had mercy on his soul... and Danny Kanell was our other option.

For the record Jake is bringing a 9mm and Cutler has a frickin bazooka.

I love hearing about Jay. I can't wait to see him in games with live bullets.

Here is a crazy question... what if Jay is clearly the better QB for this offense after the preseason? Do we pull the switch like Shanahan did in 1999 putting Griese in for Brister right before the season started? I don't think we should do that but it poses a interesting question.

I've questioned/criticized Foster's tenacity and desire frequently. Nobody has ever agreed with me. Maybe now they will.

As I understand, Bubby was just a complete slack off that offseason, which is what caused that whole situation.
