August 14th... Adopt a Bronco...

Adopt a Bronco starts on August 7th.

We're going to do it a little different this year, so that there's some order to the mayhem, and plus I like to create headaches for myself, right?

Adopt a Bronco is going to work in the following way...

FIRST, people who want to participate sign up in this thread... Only once. A simple "I'm in will suffice."

From there I'm going to collect names, and then randomize them weighted by years... So for instance, 2001-2003 registration dates will get jumbled together and given first priority. Then 2004-2005 registration dates will get jumbled and added to the priority list. Finally, 2006 registration dates will be jumbled and listed accordingly.

From there, we just draft in the same manner that we always do (This forum has seen more faux-drafts than any board I've ever seen).

Registering for the draft will have a cut off date... probably make it Thursday or Friday... Depending on when I have time to get everything settled, so get your name in ASAP so you don't miss out...

Yes... In years passed, we've had too many newbies come in, grab a starter, and then never show up again. If we do it by some sort of Psuedo seniority, at least we know that the people picking them will be around to hype their guys...

I see how Taco's trying to make it less chaotic, it leaves us rookies holding the bag. Is it my understanding that 1 person per 1 player, or can there be more than 1 person per player. I think we need a clear set of rules, also once the selecting of your adopt-a-bronco is set, is there away to close the adopt-a-bronco feature on the profile, so if a new person comes in and sets there adopt-a-bronco he and/or she does not get eaten by the wolves.

I hate to rain down on the party, but the concept was always lame to begin with.

What are we six years old here? It reminds me of my youth where the lucky kid in the neighborhood pulls a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card out of a pack and never fails to let everybody know how special he is, while I'm stuck with Rafael Belliard.

In year's past, some Bronco player would make a big play in a game and I would be so pumped up about it. Later that evening, I would log onto the Mane and some jackass would start whining about everybody jumping on his ADOPT-A-BRONCO's bandwagon and remind us who he belonged to. Like everybody was inferior because they weren't pimpin his player the entire time.

We are all Broncos fans here. We don't need to differentiate ourselves like this. Everybody on the team is our boy.

I mean, if that happens, people have to just realize it's a game anyway. The idea is to have every Bronco covered. We're not going to spend a whole lot of time enforcing that people have the right Bronco in their avatars.

And as far as the rookie thing goes, it's a tough call, but it seems like the best way to ensure that we get as many people who actually hang around with Broncos. I realize that's going to make it tougher on some good new comers, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles...
