John's had some rocky times since the glory...Mentor Father, Twin Sister, his wifes illness, his divorce, he's even tho he has a dealership in california, notice he didn't mention John Elway dealership. He lost that one and is paid for his name only or now has a minority stake or yearly endorsment deal. I just know he lost it. Dunno how much he has in Cali, but it might be similiar. His dot.com business with Montana also failed but that's no big deal. It sucks that the NFL whined about Bowlen trying to give him a piece of the Broncos. Bowlen put every dime into this team/stadium. What an owner! First class all the way.
It will be interesting to see if his son follows him. I think he's a QB in HS. I've seen that video a hundred times both on TV and computer. To "THE HELECOPTER!" He got hammered by 3 guys hard and didn't cough it up. The look in his eyes was priceless, and he only made it by a foot. Hopefully he's got his struggles behind him. At work it's a long story of how my staff and I started having potlucks on the 28th of each month. It started a while ago as kind of a gag and now we use some thing that happened on the 28th in history as an excuse to pig out. Well my secretary comes running into my office and tells me she knows what we can celebrate this month....John Elway's birthday. I'm ashamed to say I didn't think of it but she has put Elway's pictures up all over our office with his achievements. I'm making "Denver" omelettes, she's bringing "#7 layer dip", one guy is bringing pineapple upside down cake (we're calling it KC upside down cake) and others are bringing some good stuff. It's great being a manager as they kiss a** especially the one Raider fan on our team, the one bringing the KC upside down cake. |
