ok, this is classic... Although after 3 days and this much attention I would have thought that either the police would have gotten involved or the perps would have given it up... sucks to be them...

The guy is really enjoying all the attention way too much. Unfortunately he thinks he's a celebrity now which sort of contradicts his whole point about doing what's right.

The whole thing has moved to Google message boards after crashing too many other servers.

hahahaha, I'm actually pretty good about holding onto my things... The worst I've done is leave my CC at the bar overnight when I've opened a tab.

These folks don't look like they've missed a meal lately. Just let the phone go and get a new one. No different ethic between losing a cell and losing a wallet.

I once was robbed and had my wallet taken. I was a college student at the time. A month later, my aunt got a call from somebody wanting to return the wallet for a reward. Well, knowing the money in it was probably long gone and all the important stuff (driver's license, credit card) had already been replaced, there was no incentive to get it back. My aunt said they were probably just hoping we were stupid enough to get robbed twice. We declined. Hope they enjoyed the wallet.

Next time, keep your toyz at home or keep better track of them.

Yeah, but a Sidekick is a mobile communication device so the whole point is to take it with you away from home.

My daughter lost her purse once on a trip to CA. The thing had about $200 bucks in it. Some lady in San Diego (I think it was) contacted us and shipped it back with all the cash inside short the shipping fees. There are still nice peeps out there. My daugher (proud pappa plug here ) Used some of the money to send the lady flowers

That was very nice of the lady and nice of your daughter to reward her with flowers.

I once bought flowers for somebody I'd never met. I had just bought a new truck and she was with a competing insurance agency who happened to send a letter offering a lower rate. I took that offer back to my agency and they decided to match the offer. Saved me about $200 a year. I walked into her office with a dozen carnations although I had a moment's terror when I wondered if "Blair" might really be a guy with a very effeminate signature. Turned out to be a skinny little strawberry blonde with thick glasses who was thrilled to get the flowers even if she wasn't getting my business. For what she saved me, I thought the flowers were a worthy consolation prize.

After reading the first few updates I kind of got sucked in. I'm on update 9, and will read the rest latter.

Funny how the internet makes the world so small. I give this guy props for doing what he set out to do, which is to embarrass these people. We've all wanted to make a fool out of somebody who deserved it. This guy is actually doing it.

I found a lady's wallet in a parking lot back when I was in high school. My mother thought I stole it at first. We mailed it back. But I have to admit, there was a book of stamps in it that I kept. Hey, that's my reward.

I read through the updates. This story is crazy. Hundreds of thousands of people are following this. People have gone by these people's houses. This is kind of funny. All they had to do was give back the Sidekick. I guess they didn't believe this guy would take it this far, or that he could. The guy is going to the police station. He's pretty much got these people by the balls. They've admitted to having it, and said they aren't giving it back. Stupid people. I guess they are getting what they deserve.

Sooo, I'm topping this because I've been checking back at that guy's site every couple days to see what the word is... The NYPD arrested the girl who stole/bought/whatever the phone and he got it back... The power of the internet...

Right now I'm on update 38. This is a very interesting story, but the writer is giving us too much unless information. He'll start an update by saying there is nothing to update. They why is he wasting our time? He'll just go into some useless information about what he's going through, and what's going on with other websites that have picked up on this. I'm skipping over all the usless crap and trying to read the real story.

This is the only thing that irritated me about that guy... it seemed like he would get personally offended if somebody talked **** or doubted him, hence stupid updates about returning e-mails and no sleep, finding proof, etc... I'm just sitting here like dude, it's the internet. somebody will always be talking ****, get over it.
