Default How many of you would leave the US?

If everything you needed (job, place to live, decent schools, etc.) was ready for you somewhere else (Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) how many OMers would leave the US?

Now, how many of the "US is doomed" crowd would pack up and leave?

I'm simply interested in finding out how many of the pessimists would actually leave. You know, have the guts your party's Alec Baldwin (and others) are sorely lacking...

I'm curious if the usual suspects are willing to uproot themselves and their families, and abandon the US, or if they think that despite the inevitable decline of America, they're willing to stay and fight to make it right.

I want to know who is leaving because people like you, Spider, are making it impossible for the US to survive as we know it for very long.

Making the US a distasteful place to live is your role?

I can see it - a TV ad:

Spider: Doing for America what skinheads do for Germany.

I didn't take "gay republican" as an insult - but that was indeed your intent.

As for pissing me off, it takes much much more than you to do that. Calling me gay, or a Republican, or "Ward" doesn't do it.

You're far more funny than provocative, Spider.

If everyone in America who met W*GS' criterea for "pessimist," i.e., who believes the country is headed in the wrong direction under Resident Chucklenuts were to leave, then only a handful of snake handlers, NASCAR dads, NRA whack jobs, defense contractors, and oil companies would remain.

W*GS' kind of America.

I wouldn't leave, and if it came down to a violent revolution - some of you would have to go.

I'm open to living somewhere else.. not really because I think America is doomed but just because I also don't think the U.S. is a particular utopia. The U.S. is a great place, but so is Stockholm (for one example).. Americanism is alive and well in much of the world now. Particularly in Europe and Canada.

Really, its the IDEAL of America not the place that is really special. If other people of the world have embraced it, then moving is nothing more than a small matter of culture and language.

I sincerely doubt that Spider could take that role from Bush. He has it firmly in his grips.

I don't know that I would leave at this point. If my children were still young and growing up I might consider it. At times I'm ashamed of the liberties we have allowed Bush to take with our Constitution and our civil liberties. Also I'm not terribly pleased with our justice system, and that's another long story. It's become the criminal's justice, regardless of the crime. I do love America, the principles it was founded on, but I see a definite erosion of those principles and an "I know best" when it comes to dealing with those principles, instead of using those principles and the Constitution as a guide to dealing with problems.

Unfortunately, the pinhead in the WH has made it more and more difficult (and unsafe) for Americans who wish to travel or live abroad. Almost everyone hates us now, thanks to this handjob administration and its murderous policies.
