Default Corey Maggette on the trading block?

XTRA in Socal is reporting that the Clippers will be shopping Maggette this offseason.

Apparently Maggette angered many teamates especially Cutino Mobley last night by his refusal to play within the offense and his insistence on trying to score on every play by going one on one.

It has been a not so well kept secret this season that Maggette was unhappy coming off of the bench and was seeking a starting role.

Gotta say I'm not in favor of it unless we get one hell of a deal in return. Maggette may be a bit of a loose cannon but dude is instant offense. He also goes to the hole like a mother in an era in which many are content to hang out around the perimeter.

He is hit or miss every night.

But I think you need players like that on your team. He has the potential to spark the offense any given night and helps us much more than he hurts us IMO.

Not to mention the fact that he is signed for four more years at a pretty reasonable salary by NBA standards.

However, Dunleavy will always be defense first and that just isn't Maggette. He is not a true SG or SF but a tweener so IMO he is better suited to come off the bench.

If I was the Nuggets I'd come calling.

We need to sign Cassell and Radman.

In a few years Kaman is gonna come up as well. And he will get the max from somebody. Does he deserve it? No but he is a legitimate NBA center in an era where very few exist.

Somebody is gonna throw a boatload of money at the guy for that reason alone.

I'd heard on local radio even before the playoffs started that Maggette might be gone. They should not let him go, despite the horrible second half he had last night. He's a quality guy, he's still pretty young, and he's not a head case as far I can tell.

Mobley should STFU after the way he played the last two games of the series. He played like ****, not like a guy who was supposed to be there for his experience and leadership.

I always thought Maggette could have benefited from the full four years in college. I never thought he was really ready. Hes coming into his own, but he had a slow start to his career. I think any team that gets him is gonna get a bonafied scorer. Personally i think he'd be a perfect fit in New York, they just dont have much to offer back to the Clips. If i was the Nuggets, tho, this is the kind of person id wanna stay away from. He reminds me of a poor mans Carmelo, and with those two on the court theres not that many shots to go around.

JossJeff, would you do Livingston and Maggette for Paul Pierce?

Yikes....

Why must you ask me these difficult questions?

I think I've made it pretty clear that I love Livingston's potential. I firmly believe that in 5 years he will be the leagues best point guard and a brutal defensive matchup. Even now at 19 he makes some passes that amaze me.

But he is not there yet.

How old is Paul Pierce 28 ? 29?

And I would need to understand his contact situation before making that call.

One thing for sure. If I'm Boston and going nowhere fast I look long and hard at that trade.

How about Mobley, Maggette and both of our impending #1 picks instead?

I really would hate to give up on Livingston.

The Truth is 27 I believe. He is probably going to sign an extension this summer for like 5 years/75 million. If he doesn't sign an extension he can opt out of his contract next summer.

I think this is a fair deal on both ends. You get rid of a malcontent whose teammates don't want him there and his trade value is at a all time low because the whole league knows the Clippers tried to trade him earlier this year. Livingston makes the deal equal because we all know he has the potential to be a great one but his outside shooting is troublesome. He may never be a complete point guard with that horrendous looking outside shot of his.

For the Clippers you get a certified stud in Paul Pierce. 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 48% field goal percentage and has been selected to five consecutive all-star games. Match him up with Elton Brand and you have the most lethal one-two punch in the league. Plus, Pierce never misses games and is entering the prime of his career. He best season statistically was last year.

If your the Clipps, I just don't see how you can turn down this deal considering the parts involved and the history of the franchise losing. If you want to be a team that is a threat to win it all every year you got to make this move.

Don't do it jossjeff. Of course he thinks it's a great deal, because he's a Celtics fan. Keep Livingston.

It's actually an intriguing proposal.

I looked it up, next season Pierce will be 29.

Still plenty of mileage left.

I get what you are saying and you are probably right. But you need to understand that as a Clipper fan the fact that a dude is here and wants to be here is nearly as important as the talent itself.

Would Pierce want anything to do with LA?

That is the big question.

Pierce, Brand, Kaman, Mobley, Cassell, and the rest would make a kickass core though.
