HOLY COW!!!! OK, so I'm a bit excited, bear through the caps with me.
SO!!!!!! I've been sitting in a cubicle prison for the last year, staring at tweed covered walls and checking the gigantic sentinel on the wall every five minutes for signs of movement. At first, it was GREAT. Stress free, internet surfing, hardly any work...blah blah blah. Well folks, let me tel you. I AM NOT AN INDOOR TYPE OF PERSON. I was born and bred for labor. These hands feel MUCH more comfortable laced around the handle of a shovel than they do click clacking away on a keyboard. ANYWAYS Recently, my dream job came into view. The Lead Parks Worker for the Douglas county Park and Rec District. I immediately filled out my resume and put together a stellar cover letter. Two days later, I was in front of three interviewers giving the BEST INTERVIEW OF MY LIFE! Before the whole process started, they informed me that they wanted to take their time with the hiring process, ensuring a worthwhile employee to take the reigns would be found. Circa 9:17 a.m I GET THE CALL FROM THE OFFICE. AM I STILL INTERESTED IN THE JOB!!!! OF COURSE I AM WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Soon, I'll be outside under the bright noonday sun; mowing fields, fixing roads, planting trees, irrigating parks......ITS GOING TO BE AWESOME! Fellow maners, this is indeed my dream job. Outdoor, labor intensive, tons of room to grow, FANTASTIC pay, free CDL certification, unbelievable benefits...Today I am truly a blessed man. I just wanted to say first off.....HOLY **** I"M EXCITED!!!! And secondly, I'm going to miss everybody. Unfortunately, I don't have internet access at my house (for the time being...hopefully, by regular season time I'll have a shiny new comp and DSL), and therefore won't be able to come visit with my second family here on the net. Thanks to all for making me feel right at home, for helping me learn about football, for laughing at my stupid jokes and doing a bit of arguing on various topics. In two weeks, I'll be starting the next chapter of my life, and unfortunately you all won't be as big a part of it as hoped....BUT, thanks to all for a wonderful few months. This is in no way a goodbye forever, just a temporary hiatus...effective June 1st. SO UNTIL THEN< LOTS OF POSTING FROM ME. anyway, HAPPY DAYS FOR ME AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

THANKS EVERYONE!
Pay is hopefully up around 35 a year to start (not much I know, but for me it's about 800 more a month than I'm making right now), and once I get my CDL there's a 5% pay increase. NOT TO MENTION a review in 6 months, and i GUARANTEE they're going to give me a raise....i'm seriously going to wow their pants off with my skills. (figuratively speaking ) |

Congratulations on being able to do what YOU want to do. I wish I could say I enjoy my job because I don't. However, it pays the bills with a little bit left over...

Should've enlisted. Outside, excitement, excercise, free food (mmm good), travel, intramural sports, and best of all, free rounds!!!
jking dude, really, that's cool you got outta the cubicle prison and got outside. CONGRATS... A buddy of mine did it for Arapahoe county, he'd clock in and go back home and sleep, maybe mow a park in the afternoon, or whatever. They made him manager. He figured he should just get another job, and before he would go to his other one, he'd clock in at the park as a manager and then go off to his other job. lmao!!! He did this for 2 years too. |
