I stand by my prediction of the Pistons and the Mavs in the Finals. I have to get this one right, because I completely went to hell on my college tourney predictions...

lol
you don't think Dirk is a superstar?

you better look at Dirk's #'s in the post season this year

no one on phoenix's team matches up with him

they had a worse matchup w/ brand. dirk will not affect phoenix, they will simply let him get his points thats it.

So you're saying Brand with the Clippers is worse than Dirk with the Mavs? Seriously?

no I'm saying brand is more of a mismatch for the suns than dirk is. which is I'm pretty sure how I wrote it the first time.

Dirk is good, but not great. Game 6 of the Spurs series was evident of that. Dirk simple DISAPPEARED when it came to crunch time.

isnt that the game dirk had like 20 rebounds? some ppl get way too excited about "crunch time" lebron was like 2-a lot in game winners midway through this season, at something like 15%. kobe doesn't shoot in the second half versus the suns. this idea that big players have to jackup shots when games are close is asinine.

Is Tim Duncan a superstar, then? Two opportunities to win games at the final buzzer and an abysmal OT period last night. And before you reel off his MVP and Larry O'Brien awards I'll ask you if Lebron and Wade are also "superstars" then.

Ludo - I had what I wrote backward. I was questioning how you thought Brand was more deadly with the Clippers than Dirk will be for the Mavs.

yeah
those 38 points and 15 rebounds were a pretty shotty effort on his part

Of course Duncan is a Superstar, he has rings to show for it. Duncan wasnt the only Spur to have a horrible series. I would say the entire team didnt look good at all. They were a far cry from the team that came out of the regular season. As for Lebron and Wade being Superstars? Soon, real soon. I would definitely take them over Dirk any day of the week.

So, to you, you'd have to win a title to be a "superstar"?

Its not about effort, its about stepping up and taking the game over. Dirk hasnt shown that. Again, Dirk is a good player but not a Superstar. Dont get your panties in a bunch over it.

Not necessarily, but you would have to have the ability to take over a game and get it done when it matters. Karl Malone never got a ring but yet he could take over a game when needed too. Unfortuantely for him, his opponent was better at it.

The Spurs did it last year and won over the Suns in 5 games.

This Mavs team is like last year's Spurs team, they can play slow or fast.

Just watch.

They have the athletes to stay w/ the Suns.

If you don't think Dirk can take over a game, then you haven't been watching. I think you're just a hater.

TD is not just a superstar, HE'S A LEGEND. Its amazing people discredit this generation's best player. How did he choke last night. If it wasnt for him, the Mavs win this series in a landslide.

Dirk is a superstar but he's not up there in the realm of Shaq or TD YET.

What are you talking about? TD averaged over 30 points, double-digit rebounds in the series. He had a GREAT series.

Try actually watching a game and then come back with an opinion.

If he had a great series than they should have won that series. They were totally outplayed on both ends of the floor. Just because a player scores a lot of points doesnt mean they had a great series. Duncan is expected to score that many points but as it was pointed out the spurs had a chance to win that game and didnt get it done. And by watching this series they looked very lethargic and didnt have the dominance they showed during the regular season.

I'd like to hear your definition of what it takes to be a "superstar" before I argue this any further.
