Default Green Bay Bamboozled Us.

My Favorite untold "Read between the lines" story of the draft. Green Bay and Denver had already worked out the deal for Javon....but then Denver starts seeing Chad Jackson fall. And Fall. And Fall. Suddenly, the Broncos tell them they're keeping the #37, and giving them other picks(Probably #61 and a 4th, or something or equal value) instead, since both sides know Walker's going to Denver, and now Denver wants this huge, HUGE steal. The Green Bay front office is not amused. They wanted that #37 pick(Why? I don't know, since they traded it away right away)....so they call up someone they know can take Chad away from the Broncos....The Patriots. They give them their #36 pick....One before the Broncos' #37 pick. Chad Jackson comes off the board, and Denver gives up the #37.

Those Bastards.....Although, I gotta say, it was one of the smartest moves in the draft. I hate them for it, but Kudos.....

Interesting theory. Don't know that the Broncos would have passed on getting Walker for sake of drafting Jackson though.

I remember watching it happen....I threw my remote at the TV. It was like a train wreck in slow motion.....I heard "A trade has occured" and I knew it was someone stealing CJ from us. I knew it.....and the fact that it was the Pats just compounded the injury.

We would'nt have passed on him, just given up something else....Why do you think we did'nt trade the pick away untill we were on the clock?

You hardly ever get to see "Bamboozled" in print.

You think? Chad Jackson, and Javon Walker both? Wow, that wouldve been a steal for us.

Just another reason to hate the Pack.

That was why I threw my remote at the TV....I was never ecstatic about everyone projecting him at #15, but at #37, I would've been more than happy. All i can hope for now is that he turns out to be a bust.

I disagree. I think it was an agreed upon trade but was contingent on different guys dropping, namely Laurence Maroney. Shanahan wanted Walker, not Jackson. If it was Santonio Holmes I'd be more inclined to agree.

Nobody bamboozles us. We may have just been letting them think they bamboozled us, so that they would trade with us again.

Mike Shanahan is always seven or eight steps ahead of everyone else. He has the freshman high school class pretty well scouted at this point, and he has a good feel for what our 2013 draft will look like.

Some people need to pick up a dictionary before posting on this site... Starting with a sound understanding of what the word "bamboozled" means...

Or the Packers "bamboozled" the Pats, letting them think that we were going to grab CJ when they knew that we were pretty much committed to JW, so the Packers get picks from the Pats as well as from us. Not sure that the FO was as in love with CJ as the talking hair heads.

We lost out on the softest wideout since Willie Gault.

I never believed before the draft, and I certainly don't believe it now, that the Broncos ever was seriously targeting Jackson. I think they let everyone else believe that so they could get Cutler and Walker all along.

Also agree. Just because Jackson gets selected at #36 instead of #15 does not make him a better WR just a better value. Shanny wanted JW and had that deal in place 2 hours before that pick came up.

WTF would we want Chad Jackson? He's an unproven wideout.

Given the post's contention that GB dealt with the patriots in order to subvert what, at the point, was Denver's intention of keeping their 37th pick, the use of 'bamboozled' makes perfect sense.

Ya know, while we're nitpicking.

I'm NOT saying we would've lost out on Javon in the name of Chad Jackson.....we would'nt have. I'm saying if he were availible, we would have given them something else.

Had we not traded the early 2, we would have traded the late 2 and then maybe the 4th.

So basically:

Scheffler and Dumervil

or

Chad Jackson

We didn't get bamboozled, we got saved.
