Well that was depressing. At least the Oil lost somehow. This is getting way too tense for my liking.

I think knowing that Jose was there got into Budaj's head. All in all it sucked ass. I hope Jose can shake the rust off.

Pretty pathetic peformance. It was hard to tell which team was fighting for a playoff spot and which was already elminated.

I didn't think either goaltender played all that poorly, the team in front of them was horrendous. They ended up with 42 shots on goal and there were only a handful of quality scoring chances amongst them.

This team is just too inconsistant right now to be a threat to anyone in the postseason.

Did anyone else happen to catch the ceremony before the Blues game for Al McInnis? It was very nice and all, but I noticed the new owner was booed very loudly when he was introduced.

Our unstable goalie situation is even more unstable IMO even more pressure on our young tender budaj and theo having the pressure to proform (instantly), i really think PL has written off this year and is positioning for next season.

Default Avery at it again

Only he gets burned Gooooood....

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=161766&hubname=

he Los Angeles Kings player had a heated verbal exchange with Anaheim broadcaster and former NHL goalie Brian Hayward in the dressing room Friday before players and media.

Hayward, a former Montreal Canadiens goalie, criticized Avery during Tuesday's Anaheim broadcast and accused him of running away from a confrontation with the Ducks' Todd Fedoruk. Hayward was doing prep work for Saturday's Ducks-Kings game on NBC when he visited the Kings' dressing room Friday, only to be welcomed by a profanity-laced tirade from Avery, according to the Los Angeles Times. Hayward stood his ground.

"You're an embarrassment," the Times quoted Avery as saying and Hayward responded by saying, "You want to see an embarrassment? Look in the mirror, Sean."

Avery walked towards Hayward at one point but was pulled away by assistant coach Ray Bennett.

"You're the reason the league doesn't have a national television deal. You're a (terrible) announcer and you were a (terrible) player," Avery said during the exchange.

Hayward responded: "How would you know? When I played, you were in your third year of eighth grade."

Avery has been in and out of hot water all year long:

- In pre-season, Avery said a hit by then-Phoenix defenceman Denis Gauthier on Kings centre Jeremy Roenick "was typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not back anything up."

- In an October game, Avery was accused by Edmonton's Georges Laraque of using a racial slur.

- He was the first NHL player this season to be fined $1,000 US for diving and reacted by hammering the league for it.

"How can a guy sitting in an office in New York determine if you dived or not by watching a tape?" Avery said. "They don't know if you had a bad ankle or torn bursa sac or something. I can't even tell you what play they are talking about. They don't have to tell you a play, just what game they are looking at.

"No question that this is a way (for the league) to do something to me. It has nothing to do with diving. How can Colin Campbell, or whoever it is, sit at a desk and make that call? They should send the tape to all seven members of the competition committee and let them look at it."

I mentioned the Avery non fighter here on the mane the night it happened . Hayward was totally correct. Avery does give us great lines and topics (some I cannot argue with), but Hayward showed what smack was in that exchange. Great for Brian. I am going to the game (Ducks) on the 17th. Ill stick around at the end to give him kudos. Avery wont be saying much next week except , "hey, where are my golf shoes?"

How Avery still has a job in the NHL is beyond me. Soon, his own guys are gonna be pummeling Puppy.

The Preds Stanley Cup aspirations just took a major hit. Tomas Vokoun is out for the remainder of the season and the playoffs with a blood condition.

In Avery's defense...he was smart to skate away from Fedoruk. Hell...he has his hands full with Dan Hinote. No sense in taking yet another beating.

I wonder if the guys in "the room" like him at all.

Yeah, without Vokoun, the Preds are out before it even starts, IMO. They'll beat up the team they play for 6 games or so but without Vokoun, it's curtains.

I know. I was in a quandry about who to root for too. Still am not sure.

That Avery....he's a winna. :

So Vokoun's out for the playoffs too? When I saw it on ESPN today, they only mentioned the regular season. That hurts.

At this point you have to root for the Ducks. The Avs are not playing well enough to catch them...so you root against the teams below them.

Point #100 and goal #49 on the OT winner.

Had better chances earlier in the game that just wouldn't go in, but at least he finally did it.

Hey Guys,

I have my homer glasses on right now, what do you think the Rangers chances of doing something good in the playoffs are? I think if they avoid the Sabers they have a good chance to make the conference finals...

Right now you'd be slotted to play against NJ in the first round right?

Brodeur's pretty good in the playoffs sans the 2001 Cup Finals.

SOCAL i was reading something about Sid Crosby on another forum and people were saying he looks a tad like Gretzky....Didnt Gretzky play for a small market team (Edmonton) and get traded to the Kings (large market team).Coincidently Pitt is struggling financially and Sid will demand dollars soon. Just sayin socal.....

I think the rangers should do pretty good iam not a real big fan of weekes but hes been playing pretty good as for the sabers with hecht and kotalik in and out of the line up there goal production all depends on the team health.

I think it all depends on how Jagr does. If he can carry the team DESPITE the fact the opponent will be keyed in on him and we all know the level of intensity goes way up in the playoffs. So if Jagr can do well, I think the Rangers will do well also.
