Great link. I didn't know that "Blue line" (Robb Stauber) won the hobey baker. Sweet.

Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville said today that Peter Budaj will open in the Colorado net Saturday against St. Louis, but that Jose Theodore could get his first start for his new team as soon as Sunday against the Minnesota Wild.

Theodore, who went through a full practice with the Avs today at the Family Sports Center, hadn't played since Jan. 31 when he suffered a fractured heel in a fall outside his Montreal-area home during the Olympic break. The Avalanche acquired him from the Canadiens on March 8, hoping he would be able to play before the end of the regular season. And that plan still is apparently on track.

"I think he looks good in net," Quenneville said of Theodore, 29. "I think he's working on his timing each and every day and feels better physically, feels better in his timing and how he's moving. . . Sunday is a possibility."

Theodore said it "might be the case" that he makes his debut against the Wild Sunday at the Pepsi Center.

"I feel really good," he said. "Now it's been a couple of practices. I'm going to practice again tomorrow morning, so pretty much right now it's getting out there and playing. I guess the real test will be when I start playing. That's when you get your timing back. There's so much you can do in practices, but at one point, you have to make adjustments in the games."
The wait, he said, "has been a long time. I'm anxious to play for my new team in front of the new fans. I'm looking forward to it, but just taking it a day at a time."

If Theodore doesn't play Sunday, the next possibility would be the regular season's final home game, against Phoenix Tuesday. The Avs then finish the season at Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton."

CROSBY BECOMES YOUNGEST PLAYER IN NHL HISTORY
TO REACH 90-POINT MARK

Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins is the youngest player in National Hockey League history to score 90 points, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

By scoring four points at Florida Friday night, Crosby improved his season totals to 36 goals and 55 assists for 91 points. He reached the 90-point mark at the age of 18 years, 243 days. The previous standard was set by Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk, who scored his 90th point at the age of 18 years, 343 days.

With six games remaining, Crosby is putting the finishing touches on one of the most spectacular seasons for a teen-ager in NHL history.

He ranks second, all-time, in points scored before his 19th birthday, trailing only Hawerchuk, who scored 103 for the Winnipeg Jets in 1981-82.

And he ranks third, all-time, in points scored by players who broke into the NHL in the same year they were drafted, trailing only Hawerchuk and Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux. Lemieux scored 100 points for the Penguins as a 19-year-old rookie in 1984-85. Crosby is currently tied for third place on that list with another Hall of Famer, Mike Bossy, who scored 91 points for the New York Islanders in 1977-78.

Crosby is having a strong finish to the season with 11 points in his past four games (4-7-11). He has scored at least two points in six of his past seven games.

The Penguins play at Tampa Bay Saturday night and conclude a four-game road trip at Philadelphia Tuesday. They return home to host the New York Rangers on Thursday.

Joe Sakic extended his points streak to 12 games and tied Mike Bossy for 17th place on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list with his 31st of the season and 573rd of his career today against St. Louis.

They were talking about the different languages being spoke on the team (Swedish, Czech, Enlgish, French) and he was saying something about not being very good at one of them and someone "giving him **** about it."

Seemed to me like he just forgot for a second that he was on live television.

Glad the Avs could sneak past the Blues today.

They need 4 points in the next two games. The season ending Canadian swing will probably be pretty brutal...although I'm looking forward to them stomping the Cansucks in B.C.

Or the fact that he is Swedish. Profainity really isnt an issue over there. People dont use it nearly as much, but when they do it isnt even an issue.

Quinnie doesn't have the best reputation for developing GTs. If Jose still has any "mental" issues, I don't see this being a happy marriage.

On the other hand, Budaj actually had a couple of terrific saves today.

I think Hejduk was embarrased to take that lame duck that wandered into the empty net as a goal... but we'll take it!

When the heck is Tanguay going to be back? It seems it takes him awhile to get going, so I hope it's soon.

From the replays I saw of it, that goal should have been credited to Sakic. It didn't look like Hejduk ever touched it.

Tanguay has been practicing and the speculation he could be back sometime next week. I've heard that he'll definitely be back for the playoffs.

Hey CO was it a no goal? That's the bad part about being there - can't see the replays. Took a long time to call that one.

It was close but it didn't completely cross the goal line. It was a good call.

Didn't see the game, but who "scored" the goal in question? I still think it's total bush league that the Avs won't show opposing goals at the Pepsi Center.

With an absolute beaut of a goal doing it too. I also thought the wacky empty netter was Joe's. Didn't look like Hejduk ever touched it.

According to 950 The Fan, Theodore will be in uniform tomorrow night but Budaj will get the start. I imagine that his conditioning isn't quite where it needs to be, so they'll probably hold off on starting him until Tuesday night against Phoenix.

The Avs do not show replays of an opposing team's goal at Pepsi. So if you're in Pepsi and miss the greatest individual effort of all-time, unless that guy was an Av, you don't get to see a replay of it.

Like I said, I think that's bush league.

Huh, I didn't know that. The Avs always strike me as a pretty diplomatic organization, so it surprises me that they'd do that.

Can't disagree with that, I've never liked that policy and never will. It just seems petty to me.
