The Av's aren't going to get past the second round, maybe not even the first. I say save his strength. The Av's are going to be a powerhouse next year.

God damn Capitals, tying the game with 2.5 seconds left. But it looks like Ovechkin will get his 2nd assist of the night.

If you guys keep it up, you might not even have a Top 5 pick.

Looks like they're solidly in 4th at this point, but if they actually continue to try they could move to 5th.

This is hilarious stuff between SoCal & Herc. You guys actually want your teams to lose just to get a top pick. Wow, that's lame, and sad (I'm not being an a-hole). I'm sure both teams really want to win. Also, this draft doesn't really have franchise players like Sid or Ovechkin. Remember the 2000 draft class for round 1? Only Martin Havlat made a true impact, and most of the players taken infront of him are busts. A lot of players don't live up to their potential.

Hey, Sens 1 win away from 50, and are now 5 points ahead of the Canes I believe. Not bad, since 3 of our top 4 defensemen were out for this game.

2000 draft class? You might want to look at that one again, especially since Havlat wasn't in that draft.

Havlat was in the '99 draft You might want to look at that one again too because some decent players came out of it, and Havlat hasn't made much of an impact either.

Despite it not being a premier draft, there are still guys like Johnson, Kessel, Toews etc. Weve one potentially stellar Defensive defenseman in our entire system and thats Welch. Johnson would be a great addition. In addition, the higher the pick, the more you can get in terms of a trade. Maybe someone really really wants Kessel. We can take advantage of that and in exchange for the pick we can unload Gonchar's salary onto someone in addition to getting a halfway decent player. Another possibility ive heard (although its just a rumor) is that if we get the top overall pick, Minnesota would trade us Marian Gaborik (Crosby, as well as Malkin, will need a big time winger) for it (they allegedly like Kessel, although I dont know if thats true or just based on the assumption that since he is playing at Minnesota currently, he is popular there and would help sell tickets).

In short, winning does nothing for us. Losing does quite a bit. I root (as does Herc) for what's in each team's best interest. Winning simply doesnt do anything for either of our teams right now. So its not "lame" to root against our teams, its the right thing to do. Rooting for them to win just because it "feels bad to root against your team" would be completely irrational.

One of the loudest moments in McNichols Arena history. The boys let Joey down that day by not beating Chicago - that game ended up a 3-3 tie, I believe.

SoCal, I wouldn't get your hopes up on Gaborik getting traded to the Pens. I don't think Minnesota will trade their franchise player, who's not even in his prime years yet, for the rights to the number one overall pick. Kessel won't help sell seats because the Wild have sold out every game since they came into existence in 2000.

It was right after he'd scored a goal too. Had Sakic known then that Fleury would later miss game 5 of the Western Conference Finals with, ahem, "the flu" he probably wouldn't have been so quick to take on Gilmour in Theo's defense.

The division race this year could induce a lot of ulcers. Good Lord, everyone is within striking distance of the division title with the exception of the Wild. This is tense!

Bad night for San Jose. They lose at home, in regulation to the Coyotes and Jonathon Cheechoo left the game with a leg injury after blocking a shot. They remain 4 points behind Anaheim for the 8th spot in the Western Conference.

After tomorrow night's big showdown in Calgary, the Avs have a very favorable schedule over the following eleven days. They start a five game homestand, all against non-playoff teams (Chicago, San Jose, St. Louis, Minnesota & Phoenix). They'd better make good on those games, their final three of the season are on the road in Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.

yeah thank Garon, god why did we get rid of Huet again? Safe to say Dave Taylor our GM will be a Goner. I like the guy and what he did with the farm but damn he should have put a better deal for Luongo. Anyway sucks that the Avs wont be playing at Pepsi Center tommorow since Ill be in town for the weekend.

I think the Avs will be in good shape if they can win six of their final nine games; that would give then 100 points. The Avs have some cup cakes on their schedule, but cup cakes can still be dangerous (just ask San Jose).

Here's Calgary's remaining games:

Colorado (tonight)
at Edmonton
Detroit
Phoenix
Minnesota
at Vancouver
Anaheim
Colorado
at LA
at Anaheim

6 out of nine isn't too much to ask for.
