I'm not the only one unnerved at the comment of Metallurg's GM Velichin a few weeks ago when he said that Malkin would not give the notice because he's a "smart guy....a decent guy". And the RSL has a long history of being affiliated with organized crime. They need to get him AND his family on a plane to Pittsburgh NOW!!!!

SoCal,
i believe the pens if they can net him, will - and they have even offered compensation for the contract (don't know how much) - I wonder if this is also part of the hang up on the WTO as well - |

Both TSN and Sportsnet are reporting that the Phoenix Coyotes are close to signing Owen Nolan.
There are also rumors that Phil Kessel will leave Minnesota and sign with the Boston Bruins. |

Jori anything on Dumont? I heard there was a slim chance he could end up in LA...

From reports I have seen, Montreal is Dumont's number one choice. However, the Habs stand at about 41 million in total salaries and would want to move some salary in order to fit in Dumont. Detroit has ruled themselves out of the Dumont sweepstakes. I've heard LA is intersted, but haven't heard much else.

I heard the same thing, nothing new. It would be a sweet pickup if we somehow landed Dumont.

For my freinds like Jori, Clock, Mtn, and especially Tredici.
From THN 2006 Yearbook - Avery Interview Avery is determined to show the world he's more than a mouthpiece. "I think it's time" he says. "Everyone knows that I'm a valuable player and I think I'm only going to do myself more justice by smartening up. I had that year and it was just one of those things that just kind of snowballed. Part of it was me just trying to get a lot of attention. I have accomplished it now and everybody knows who I am. I don't need to have the circus-like antycs anymore. I'm still going to play the same way. I'm going to play hard, but I'd like to drop my penalty minutes by at least 100." "I think I'm going to get better. I'm really excited. My numbers have been better every year I played. I want to get 60 points this season. 50 points is a given for me. I don't even mind being a checker. When you're playing against the other team's top line, they usually aren't that good defensively, so you're going to get your scoring chances. I like that more than playing against the other team's checking line. I think I have always played better when I am given responsibilities." cant wait to see the reaction... ![]() |

ESPN's EJ Hradek is reporting that Phil Kessel has signed a three year deal with the Boston Bruins; forgoing the final three years of his college eligibility.

Rumour about Malkin to Montreal in return for Ryder, Ribeiro, Souray, Aebischer and a first-round pick. Look like the Pens are trying to avoid all this scandal.
Linky. While I make it a point to not trust Ekland, it was also on ESPNRadio. Montreal fans would riot, I think...and the Penguins would make the playoffs. |

Malkin is a perennial all-star player and is going to be the best two way center in the entire league for the next 15 years. The rumor makes zero sense. We cant even afford all those guys anyway. I'd personally burn Shero's ****ing house down. It makes ZERO sense whatsoever. We are all set to have the best center combo in the league and we have been working our asses off to get him over here. There is NO way this is even legit.

In any case, I can't believe you think it'd be a BAD trade for the Pens...****, I'd do it for Ribeiro and Ryder alone...nevermind the pick, Souray and Aebischer. There's one thing we can agree on though: It's not gonna happen. The best suggestion I've heard was over on the Flames official board: Quote:

If Colorado offered Liles, Wolski, Svatos and a 1st, I'd hope that we would turn them down quickly. This Montreal thing is a joke. That is crap value. We don't even need Aebischer. Malkin is going to be a huge beast.

Both are only 26 years old. It's a steal for the Pens. Why do you think Malkin's going to be as good as Crosby or Ovechkin? Last edited by Killericon; 08-17-2006 at 12:02 AM.. |

I cant wait to have two all world centers on this team, and in a few years Staal will be ready, although I still wish Shero would have traded him for Jack Johnson. The offer was there, straight up and we refused.

Well, I'm not sold that he's going to be a top 5 centre, but he'll be good. Of that there can be no doubt. Probably a year in, year out 25 goal/40 assist guy. A lot of Selkes in his future, that's for sure. Well, no matter who is getting ripped off in that deal, it's not going to happen. |
