I know what the sport is.

You still haven't answered what Crosby will be doing during all of Ruutu's penalty minutes.

Those guys are eating up 4 million of payroll. Another issue were these bonuses that kicked in for Sakic and Blake when the Avs declined their options for 06-07. That was a blunder because the club didn't find out until recently that those bonuses count against the cap. Now the Avs are effectively paying Sakic 8.05 million this season and 2.3 million for Blake who will be playing for the Kings. Had they picked up the options, the cap hit would have been around 12 million for both players, but you would have BOTH players.

I think Tanguay was going to be traded regardless. He reportedly is asking for 5 million per season, which I personally believe he's not worth at this time. You can't disappear in two straight playoff years and expect that kind of cash. You can criticize Hejduk, but Milan is locked into a long-term cap friendly contract.

I think this is a borderline playoff team, but they can make it if certain things go right for them.

I think Wolski is eventually going to make fans forget about Tanguay (perhaps not this season, but eventually). Next summer, the Avs will finally be rid of the bonuses and the contracts of Turgeon, May and Brisebois. They'll have cap room. You'll also start seeing some youngsters from the past few drafts starting to make the club in 07-08. This team is already younger then last year's squad and will continue to get younger within the next few years.

He truley pissed me off during the playoffs again, lazy penalties and lazy play no way is he worth 5 mil.

Yup and plus if Ruutu gets in a fight then that sets up 4 on 4, which makes the ice much much more open for Crosby.

Yeah but Ruutu is a freakin pest and Philly fans will hate the guy. I guarantee ruutu will be a fan favorite in Pittsburgh. Plus he will be an asset when it comes to shoot-outs.

I'm hoping. So far sherro has got some good vets that are realitivly cheap and can fill some voids. I'm hoping the youngsters can really make a step up next season.

Tell ya what. You keep count. How many shorties are scored while he's in the box vs. PP points for the other side. Fair enough?

Canucks trade G Dan Cloutier to the LA Kings.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170578&hubname=nhl

No word yet on what the Kings sent in return, but if it's more then a 7th round pick...then they got robbed!

DAMN! You are fast on the trigger...

But yea, Nonis has been a magician this offseason. They just cleared a nice chunk of cap space, and whatever they get back is just gravy.

Then again, the Kings could have dumped Sopel or Miller on the Canucks. We'll see...

Yup, Kings give up their second round pick in 2007 and a conditional pick in 2009. Nonis dumps Cloutier without taking back salary...wow. Giguere needs to get Lombardi on the phone now!

Besides Giguere are Aebischer and Lagace still out there? Or did I miss something.

I wouldnt say DL is a bad GM like Giguere is YET, apparently yesterday Shanahan was in LA talking to the Kings management. We need to sign a top-6 forward but trading for Clout pretty much closes the door on that if Shanahan is really asking for 5.5 million.
