A Penguin other than
Crosby draws rave reviews
One night it was Detroit. The next stop was a night later in St. Louis. Two pretty tough stops around the National Hockey League over the last decade.

It wasn't surprising that the same kid stole the show each night.

"Unbelievable. Incredible," said Pittsburgh Penguins winger Marc Recchi. "What can I say, 'He's the next Great One.' "

Boy it'd be nice if the Avs could actually get a good rhythm established. I'm sick of win 1, lose 3 or win one, lose one. Brunette and Laaks both seem to shine against their old team, thank goodness.

I think we got paid back for our gift goal last night. Did anyone else think they looked a bit sluggish out there for awhile? And why give Budaj back to back starts? I just don't understand the goalie equation these days. I can understand keeping Aebi out for now, but I thought for sure Kolesnick would be in there tonight.

I just keep feeling like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop....somehow, somewhere.

Crosby closing the gap on Ovechkin with 2 goals and an assist against Philly on Friday. Now that Therrian has him back at Center, his point droughts shouldnt be as long.

That was a strange one.

Kolesnik gives up two goals on two shots (the 2nd being as soft a goal as you'll ever see) and gets pulled. Budaj gives up a pretty soft one and the Avs are down 3-0. They then score 3 of their own and Curtis Joseph gets pulled. That's the first time I've ever seen both starting goaltenders get the hook in the first period.

Thanks to an empty net the Avs ended up with three shorthanded goals in the game (two of them into the empty net). Just a weird game, but I'll take the win any way we can get it.

Svatos scored his 20th of the season tonight, which tied Chris Drury for the Avs rookie record.

Ovy with 1 and 1 tonight.

FYI Avs fans- Clement and Jones both said during the 2nd Intermission that they thought Kolzig would end up in Colorado sometime before the trading deadline.

Crosby with a really nice assist from his knees behind the net. Still a few points behind Ovechkin but his move back to center is paying off. As usual, the team blows a great performance by Fleury with an OT loss to Toronto.

Just cause you hate the sens, doesn't mean you have to be a dick and call people names.

Wow, sens lost 2 games

There's what? 40 games left?

We already secured first place even with our injuries.

Kolzig makes almost five million dollars. The Avs can't have more then two million in cap space. The Caps would have to take guys like Boughner and Aebischer to make this work. Still, considering Kolzig's age, this would only be a temporary fix.

Every day that passes, he would take up less and less cap space to the team that trades for him. It's also a given that if the Caps traded him, they'd take back a vet contract to help lessen the blow money-wise.

I still don't think he's traded though, and it's going to cost someone much more than fans think it would take to get Kolzig if a team does make a move for him.

The Avs sent Kolesnik back to Lowell today. So either a trade is in the making or they've decided to go back to the Aebischer/Budaj combo. I'm betting on the latter.

Been there done that

The hot rumor right now is Montreal. Apparently a Habs scout attended the game on Monday and Avs scouts have reportedly been seen at Canadiens games.

I hope thats the case. Maybe Aebisher is out of his slump.

He would have been by now if Quinville left him in.

Or the Avs would be under .500, one or the other.

Peter Budaj is getting the start tonight.

You really dont know that though, so its hard to speculate...

I think that Aebischer would be out of his slump and be playing like himself.

I disagree, but it's all a matter of opinion.

Ovechkin nets his 22nd of the year in the first period against New Jersey.

Between the slow bouncer that somehow eluded him and the unscreened slapper by Demitra, he showed enough to remind us that his game is still in the toilet.
