I've read that Pronger stuff for the last couple of days. I was joking when I mentioned it. Where is that coming from? I thought Pronger signed a big deal when he went up there. Why the heck would he want out already?

Man, the Kings are throwing a lot out there to try and snare Luongo.

And funniest yet.....the remote possibility of Aebi in Hockeytown. That would be great. They yapped on and on about how crappy he was for some time. I still wish the guy the best.

From what I've read, it appears that the Pronger rumor was started by notorious bull**** artist Al Strachan, so don't put too much stock into it.

Could it get much higher? He's got a pretty good salary already.

He made around $7 million last year and won the Norris Trophy. The max salary for a single player is somewhere over $8 million with the rise in the salary cap and all.

I have no idea how much he's looking for, but rumors are it's a bundle.

So, with Lidstrom with a big price tag and the Wings still needing to re-sign quite a few key players, they can't really be in the Luongo sweepstakes, can they?

Yeah, but still...I thought their 'expendable' vets were already making chump change. Is it really gonna help that much? I hope they don't mean Stevie Y. I'd hope the guy would retire before it came to that. He deserves it.

Fresh off being named league MVP, Joe Thornton will be the cover boy for NHL 2K7.

Canes sign Brind'Amour to a five year deal. The money isn't a lot, just surprised at the length of the deal; Brindy would be 40 when this contract expires. If he were to retire sometime during the middle of this contract, the remaining years will still count against the cap.

You're right, not a bad deal moneywise, but 5 years? They'd better hope he plays that long.

With everyone being hot and horny over Jordan Staal, we better fleece someone tomorrow or i'll be pissed. If they can't get a deal done, its ok though, just take Kessel. I want to see Crosby, Malkin and Kessel on the PP and occasionally on the same line at the end of games when we are down a goal. I'd love to snag Jack Johnson though, that would be outstanding. Shea Weber would be a big boost to our defense too.

Git R Done, Ray.

Luongo for Bertuzzi?

"The Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers are on the verge of finalizing a multi-player trade involving Roberto Luongo and Todd Bertuzzi, sources have told TSN.

Netminder Luongo is amongst a package that is going to Vancouver in exchange for a package that includes Bertuzzi.
Details to follow."

Here is the completed deal:

To Vancouver: Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek, 6th Round Pick
To Florida: Todd Bertuzzi, Alex Auld, Bryan Allen

A coup for Nonis

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/artic...23_214807_5632

Now you have Luongo, Kipper, Roloson, and Fernandez in the division. Theodore better get his ass in gear.

I'd love to see where Jordan would go if his last name wasn't Staal. I'm guessing it wouldn't be Top 5 high.

Talk about ruining my weekend with this Luongo trade. Vancouver gets rid of a cancer and gets one of the top five goaltenders in the NHL.

We know that Pronger is going to be traded again. Apparently there are three teams who are after the second over all pick. And don't be surprised if David Aebischer is traded this weekend, the Habs are close to signing Huet to a multi-year deal. Aebischer has expressed publically that he wants to be a #1 goaltender, he wont get that chance in Montreal.

The Cannucks sure snookered Floridy on that one. They couldn't move that POS and his $$$'s at trade deadline and ending up getting a premiere goalie? WTH?

It's bad, but there is a positive angle.

This development may embolden Pierre and his new protege to respond and make some big time moves tomorrow in the draft to really strengthen your team.

Since Keenan is in such a giving mood, maybe Giguere should give him a call.

"The move was no less bold for Panthers GM Mike Keenan, who could not come to terms with Luongo in spite of offering him a five-year, $30-million deal that would have made him one of the highest-paid netminders in the game. Presumably, Nonis is prepared to make Luongo an offer that will make him happy enough to turn his back on a date with unrestricted free agency next summer, somewhere in the neighborhood of $7 million annually. If Nonis cannot pull that off, this trade is fraught with even greater risk for Nonis."

It's hard to imagine a situation in which the hard-nosed, sometimes bombastic Keenan is seen in a sympathetic light, but this is it. Faced with the prospect of losing one of the top young goaltenders in the game to free agency next summer, Keenan chose to act now rather than wait and see if Luongo's temperament changed."

Wow, hell of a move for the Canchokes. What'll be realy funny now is watching the Vancouver "fans" who so vehemently defended Bertuzzi all this time now turn on him like rats bailing off a sinking ship.
