I hope they get a game 6 in Edmonton. The anthem's during games 3 and 4 have been awesome.

I also think NBC has done a much, much better job at pre-game build up than anything ABC or Fox did with the Finals.

Canes win 2-1 and take a 3-1 series lead as this thread dies a slow death.

Hey Smurf, I've got a link for you. This will be helpful for extra practice for your hockey career every time you have to walk the dog.

I agree. It has been really enjoyable sports television...a rarity for hockey, where Fox & ABC so concentrated on the motion of the puck that you lost any perspective of what was happening around the rest of the ice.

NBC has done terrific camera work; picking up the great hits & collisions during the course of the game.

I only wish it was Edmonton up 3 games to 1 is all.

I have to admit that I lost interest this year once the AVS got bounced. Up to that point I thought the playoffs were great though.

For some reason...be it xenophopia...or just weirdness I like to root against Canada.

Malkin is coming to Penguins soon

But the good nugget:

The Russian hockey federation, which declined to participate in the transfer agreement worked out by the NHL and the International Ice Hockey Federation last summer, plans to reverse course after a meeting yesterday between new federation head Vladislav Tretiak and management of teams from the Russian Super League.

Tretiak has been an unabashed proponent of the transfer agreement; many Super League club owners staunchly opposed it.

The transfer agreement establishes the framework under which players under contract to European teams can move to the NHL. It features a $200,000 fee for any European player who goes to the NHL, with that money coming from a pool to which all NHL teams contribute each year.

While the NHL appears to be aware of the Super League clubs' about-face, it has not received formal notification of it.

An official announcement of Russia's change of heart is expected next week, with the relevant paperwork likely to be signed Friday.

And you thought Rexall was insane before...just imagine what it will be like on Saturday. What a finish, and you know Cory Stillman has to have Brisebois' number on speed dial.

Anybody else smell a game seven? The Canes defense is beat up and Edmonton has all the momentum. Unless Ward stands on his head, I think we will have a hockey game on Monday night.

I thought Eric Staal was more to blame for the final goal than Stillman. He should have made a safer play in that situation. I'll take it though, as I'm rooting for Edmonton in this series.

Pierre McGuire asks the best questions during the between-period and after-game interviews. It's nice to hear someone ask a relevant hockey question rather than the Erin Andrews-type interview (though Andrews is just a little easier on the eyes).

Looks like Bob Boughner is going to retire from the NHL and will be coaching the OHL's Windsor Spitfires next year. I wish him all the luck and hope he can have the same success as Roy experienced with the Remparts this past season.

same here but you know nothing is better than winning the cup in the other teams building. Canes will finish it off in Game 6.

I wanted a game 6 just so I could see the Edmonton fans again. I want the Oil to win it, but I'm ok with whatever happens now.
