Probably should have been a penalty, but the Buffalo side would call it poetic justic considering the weak call in game five. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Canes blow out Buffalo in game seven. I just don't know how much more the Sabres have left in the tank. Either way, I'm liking the Oilers chances more in the Cup final.

That was an ugly goal from the Briere hook to Ward's missed glove save. I don't like seeing powerplays decide overtime games like they have in games 5 and 6.
I can't imagine Buffalo having much left in the tank for game 7 with their defense the way it is right now. Edmonton is going to have a loooooooooong wait for the Finals to start. Game 1 will be next Monday, which means the Oilers will have had over a week off. I don't think that's a good thing if you're an Oiler fan after seeing what happened to the Avs, Ducks, Devils, and Senators. Last edited by Breck Bronc; 05-30-2006 at 09:06 PM.. |

The layoff could hurt Edmonton, MacTavish has publically admitted that. I've heard that Edmonton plans on flying out east late in the week to adjust to the humidity. If the Canes win game seven like I believe they will, they'll have plenty of momentum going into game one. That's bad news for Edmonton unless Roloson stands on his head to give time for his mates to find their legs. Still, in the long run, this series has taken a lot out of the winner and that could be an advantage to Edmonton if the Cup Final is a long series.

The Leafs resign McCabe.
ESPN's David Amber is reporting the deal at 5 years, $25 million. TSN says it's between $5.5 and $6 million per year for five years. |

Someone's gonna throw max money at Chara. Redden will get paid handsomely too.

I worry more about the length of the contract moreso then the cash. If Blake isn't resigned, there are other options. Toronto will have more then $15 million committed to three players, plus they have to worry about replacing Belfour. With McCabe staying in Toronto, that's one less team fighting for some of the other high end UFA blue liners. |

If they don't get Chara, look for them to throw a huge offer at Rob Blake. That's not a rumor that's being reported or anything, I'm just going by the Rag$ tendency to get a raging blue veiner for any Avs player that hits the free agent market. ![]() |

The Avs were never a team that spent big $$ on the free agent market. The closest they ever came to that was the Kariya/Selanne situation and the only reason that happened was because the two of them were willing to sign within the parameters of the 7 million dollar salary slot that was vacated when Patrick Roy retired. Before that, I think Todd Gill was the closest thing to a big name free agent they'd signed.
You want to see the overspenders, look no further than the Rangers and Stars. Those two teams did everything they could to drive player salaries through the roof. |

Now it looks like Jay McKee wont play for the Sabres tonight. That's four of their top six defenders out! Pominville may actually play as a blue liner tonight. The Canes will be basically playing against an AHL defense tonight. Get ready to stand on your head Mr. Miller!

The Canes score a lucky goal to take a 1-0 lead.
Come on Sabres, I don't want to see Carolina in the Finals. |

Congrats to the Canes on their 2nd trip to the Finals in 4 years.
Hopefully Eric Staal is able to make a pretty lasting impression on people in these Finals. He seems destined to be one of those brilliant players who doesn't quite get his due because of the market he plays in. He's a top 10 player in this league right now and he's nowhere near his prime. It'd be nice to see him hoist the Cup. Kudos to the Sabres for a great series. Ryan Miller has me optimistic about the future in goal for Team USA. ![]() |

Buffalo teams sure find a way to lose in the most heartbreaking fashion. It's got to be tough to lose after leading 2-1 going into the 3rd with 2/3rds of your top defenseman out of the lineup.
I haven't liked the new rule of giving a penalty when the puck is cleared out of play in the defensive zone and now it has affected an important game 7. I hope the rule is changed back to what it was pre-lockout or at least make it a judgement call for when a player obviously shoots the puck out of the arena, unlike what Brian Cambell did. I'm definitely rooting for the Oilers now. Who the hell would have thought it would be Oilers vs. Hurricanes playing for the Stanley Cup way back in October. |

I want there to be a Stanley Cup parade in Raleigh, NC just to piss off the hockey elitists who act as though unless you're a Canadian team or an original six team, you don't deserve a chance at the Cup.
Go Canes. |
