What it shows is that the draft is top heavy, and then levels out significantly through picks 20-60.
At least we all know we tried, that is significant. We can't trade future 1st rounders because they are worthless since we are gonna be good every year. We gotta hope for some gems in the 2nd and 3rd. It will still be alot of fun, unless VY falls to the raiders... |

If they wanted a high pick that bad why not throw in next years 2 or 3rd rounder?

I guess you gotta suck to get a top 5 draft pick.
That ain't happening any time soon. |

I do find it funny we even contacted the Titans. #3 for #15 and #22 would have been nice, but no way in hell. As I've stated for a long time, #15 and #22 can get you in the picks from Top 4-6 selections, but no team was going to want to do that, especially teams who suck so bad and could use a franchise prospect.

i would like to know who exactly they were targeting. my guess would be Mario or VD? i dont think we'd move up for a QB personally.

Wow, I could only dream how Mario Williams or Vernon Davis would look in a Bronco Uni.

If we talked to all the top teams the targets were Mario or VD, not a QB. We tried and I'm pretty bummed about missing. It's not worth selling the farm.

Davis or Williams, no question. It is a deep draft, but the top 8 or so prospects are phenominal athletes and the rest of the talent pool drops off after them. The draft then goes through a series of plateaus followed by small drops from picks 10-75 or so. We're in position to grab a lot of talented guys, but I think Shanahan had his heart set on Vernon Davis as a gamebreaking TE.
Hopefully the draft will get shaken up and it'll work out for us, but I doubt it. We basically need Green Bay to trade #5 to us, which won't happen unless Williams and AJ Hawk both go off the board. Basically we need some kind of shakeup that makes Hawk go in the top 4, before Leinart or Ferguson. I think the Packers are man crushing on Hawk, if he goes they'll be much more open to moving. Funny, there was a rumor going around here (New England) that made the Dan Patrick show saying that the Pats want to move up too, allegedly they're real big on Hawk as well. You'd think another team wanting to get in the top 5 would hurt us, but if they want Hawk it'll only help, as they'll be stealing him from the Pack, making them more willing to deal, exposing Vernon Davis to us. Not real likely that any of it happens though, unfortunately. |

You never heard much about high prospects going to Denver because for the longest time, they held the #22 and #29 picks in the NFL Draft. Even with #15 and #22, it was highly unlikely they'd be able to move up, because as I've stated numerous times -- where the value looks good on paper, what teams are going to want to drop out of the range of elite players? Wrong again, Militia. |

Im glad we tried. And im glad after realizing it wasnt going to happen, the team moved back and gained more picks because we can get the same value at 37.
This is a deep draft, just because we wanted to move up doesn mean its not. |

Oh, there was a tid-bit in the Post when Shanahan spoke for the first time that Shanahan said something. "In fact, we're going to get Vince Young." -- I'm assuming it was a joke, but I'm sure he likes the kid.
