TJ, Mort & Mel discuss the Broncos draft. 2:30 long, pretty interesting.

I will do cartwheels in my living room if we end up with Vernon. My biggest fear is that we are going to move up for a QB. If we do make a trade up, my head will be under a pillow until the pick is made. |

My fault, Kiper was the one talking about the (highly unlikely) possibility of trading up for Mario Williams. |

The funny thing is that we have played out all possible safe scenarios where everyone is happy in effect. Now we need to look outside the box to possible player moves and trades that would not be so easy to predict.
One thing is for sure, they have a ton of Options and even though we have addressed a bunch of logical moves we have not even started to scratch the surface of the ideas being planned for at Dove Valley. These guys are looking at stuff the board would freak out over in just mentioning. They do it every year it seems like ![]() |

Lelie & pick 15 = trade up for Davis.
22 = Maroney or D will. Best draft day ever... |

I have been reading The Draft by Pete Williams and he lays out how the Process of drafting works over a year long time span. The Book is poorly edited and hard to read in places, but the wealth of process Information makes it a must read of any fan who REALLY wants to know what happens with the draft process. Two points it makes that usually missed here: 1. Successful teams draft players that fit their schemes and keep coaching and front office staff around for continuity. 2. Most players require a commitment to develop in order to become an NFL player. Even the best Rookies require an awful lot of coaching to adjust to the next level of play. Case in point were the CB's last year who were drafted to play man to man coverage but were protected more with Off coverage. Hopefully, they get the confidence of the coaching staff in the offseason and switch more to their primary skills and having a healthy Champ Bailey should help too. |

Wow.
When I read the thread title, I thought it was already Draft Day and somehow, I have slept through the days leading up to the Draft. Now, back to reality, which is work. |

You want to know a situation I would love.
This...the Eagles need a WR and need a proven one. Denver apparently is not going to retain Lelie next year so we might as well trade him now and get some value out of him. Trade Lelie and our second rounder for the Eagles first rounder. That will leave us with the 14, 15, and 22 overall. We can get a WR, DE, TE all in the first round and draft a RB later in the draft with Griggs, Mike Bell, or etc. Jackson, Hali/Bunkley (should he fall), Lewis/Pope, Griggs/Bell. I'd piss my pants with that draft. |

Yep. This is why I learned not to get too attached to my draft scenarios, and just go with the flow. Predicting what Shanahan will do in a draft is an inexact science. |
