Default Omane and OF1 Sports Illustrated Article...need your input!

Some of you may recall that Sports Illustrated somehow found out about our tailgate group. Last year they sent a photographer out the weekend of the home KC game. They ended up taking several hundred pictures. They sent me a few of them and I'll put some more up when I have a chance.

Anyhow they are going to do a story on the bus and our tailgate group in the fall issue of Sports Illustrated! They called me this afternoon and asked me some basic questions about the bus and started to ask me questions about the tailgate. Being that our tailgate is a combination of local tailgaters and online tailgaters I told Sports Illustrated I thought it made more sense to throw their questions to the group via the Orangemane. They agreed.

So here are the questions SI wants your input on. Some of you may recall we did the same thing for Hooters Magazine and they ended up picking quotes out that they wanted to use. It worked out great!

Please take a second to answer some of these questions or tell a story about your tailgate experience. Some of your answers will end up in this falls Sports Illustrated!

What are your favorite tailgate traditions, either on and before gameday?
What makes for the ultimate tailgate?
What makes tailgating in Denver and/or with the Orange Force One crew so unique?
Any favorite tailgating recipes--either food or drink mixes?
Any advice for tailgaters hoping to get as much out of the experience as you do?
Name one piece of tailgating gear you can't live without and why?
How far do you travel for Broncos tailgates?
What do you love most about the tailgating experience?

This is one of the pictures they took. If you are in this pic identify yourself as I have a feeling this might be one they use.

Yes. Don't worry Sassy. They have several hundred pics. Infact here is a bit of the letter they sent me.

Steve,

"Great talking to you earlier. As promised, here are a handful of images from last fall's shoot that we really like. There are some others like this--like I said, we have maybe 300 in all--but this is a good sampling. Take a look and if you don't mind, spell out the names of anyone pictures, plus anyone from your core group who might be missing in these particular shots."

I'm sure they are going to use more than just this one pic Sassy. I'm sure you made it in some others.

This article is about more than just this one tailgate though so if you've been to any of the others over the last couple years please put your 2 cents in!

I think one of the group shots from NOLA would be awesome! "Bronco fans will follow their team to the ends of the earth and back"

Good Stuff Meck!!

What are your favorite tailgate traditions, either on and before gameday?
Got to have something orange on

What makes for the ultimate tailgate?
Being with great friends, die hard fans and some good grog and grub

What makes tailgating in Denver and/or with the Orange Force One crew so unique?

The Orange Force One crew introduced me to REAL tailgating. It's an all day, before and after game event. The bigger the better. A hot tub at a tailgate?!? No way can't be done. Well the Orange force One crew can do it. As is the Orange Force One matra goes "Revitalizing Mile High one fan at a time"

Any favorite tailgating recipes--either food or drink mixes?
Kabobs.

Any advice for tailgaters hoping to get as much out of the experience as you do?
Have fun, be social and don't be afraid to introduce yourself to fellow fans. Oh, and boo raider and Chief fans as they roll by!!

Name one piece of tailgating gear you can't live without and why?
Beer Koozie. Hands are warm, beer is cold.

How far do you travel for Broncos tailgates?
San Diego. Mile High West is a great spot.

What do you love most about the tailgating experience?
It's a total experience. From the players arriving just yards away, with abundant photo opps, to being greet by the OF1 crew as you approach and the wonderful anticipation of kickoff, it's just a hell of a way to spend a Sunday.

Where's your wingman in the Orange Tux ? No way they can print that article without that pimps picture. Thats a great idea that people identify where they are standing in the picture so those of us who haven't met everybody can place a name with a picture. Of course I knew who you were already.

Meck, most of your core activities happen in Denver of course, but a photo of a Pee Wee Broncos team, from the State of New York, on your Bus, doing the Mile High salute, would blow some people away.

I could picture the caption, "this Pee Wee team must be from Denver right?? Wrong! Steve and his crew drove 2,000 miles to New York and drove a bunch of Long Island Pee Wee Broncos to their football game in style"

Don't forget to incude greasy Al, He's family.

I feel almost guilty raking him, but man...take it for what it is.

He and Bowlen worked to get the new CBA...strange bedfellows indeed.

Congratulations Meck. On the question that what tailgating gear you couldnt do without. Of course cold beer and great food and also the radiers decal in the urainal and the radiers, chiefs shirts infront of the bus to whip your feet off ; those are classics. I can't wait for the SI to come out this fall and tell all my friends that I was there and hope to come this year.

What are your favorite tailgate traditions, either on and before gameday?

(The drive in on the OF1 i have always liked.)

What makes for the ultimate tailgate?

(Some hotties on the OF1 pole)

What makes tailgating in Denver and/or with the Orange Force One crew so unique?

The people, getting together to support our favorite team and getting rowdy and being with the OF1 makes one kinda feel like an ambassador of Lot C.

Any favorite tailgating recipes--either food or drink mixes?

What's cool is there really isn't a recipe, meck just says hey we got shimp and chicken breasts you know where the spices are and just add some beer.

Any advice for tailgaters hoping to get as much out of the experience as you do?

If you want to get something out of the experience you have to step back and pay attention because before you know it it's time to go home.

Name one piece of tailgating gear you can't live without and why?

My camera and my shorts, i really love getting home and opening the pic up on my computer.

How far do you travel for Broncos tailgates?
20 miles

A win

What are your favorite tailgate traditions, either on and before gameday?
The pregame party the night before is awesome. I like meeting the Maner's and reminiscing about prior and future games.

What makes for the ultimate tailgate?
Good friends, great food and cold beer!
(Nice weather doesn't hurt! )

What makes tailgating in Denver and/or with the Orange Force One crew so unique?
Pez said it...'partying with fellow Bronco fans who are also very good friends and like family'

Any favorite tailgating recipes--either food or drink mixes?

Any food is pretty good when you're drinking and having a great time!

Any advice for tailgaters hoping to get as much out of the experience as you do?
Arrive early...stay late...and if you're coming from out of town plan an extra day or two!
OH yeah...and take the day after off of work!

Name one piece of tailgating gear you can't live without and why?
Hogan (since we're undefeated when attending games together!)

How far do you travel for Broncos tailgates?

Anywhere from ND to San Diego to Denver to New Orleans and inbetween!!!

What do you love most about the tailgating experience?

The "W" is always great...but it's the hospitality in Denver and hanging with Maners is unreal...and of course, OF! ROCKS!!!
