Default Nice Effort Thuggets!

Way to show up today, play with heart and passion, what a huge group of overpaid, underachieving, selfish, out of touch with reality thugs!

And the Mavericks are all banged up, George Karl is full of excuses, very upsetting indeed! The worst 3 seed of all time in NBA history!

103 to 79---------WOW!

Good to know that being young and black equals being a thug.

there is a huge difference rhyme, every team in the nba has black players, white players, european players, the players here in question are the ones who threaten to go into the stands after fans, make videos about selling drugs and not being a "snitch", lots of tats, questionable character etc....

Look at a team like the spurs, no hidden agendas there, play with class, etc...

So you just named 2 players. Out of 13. And hell, one of those 2 players was in that video when he was 19, and has done a lot of growing up in front of our very eyes since then.

So, I want to know how the rest of the Nuggets are thugs. All I'm saying is, if you want to call out somebody specifically, that's fine by me. But to say that a whole team is a bunch of thugs (i.e., your first post) is so blatantly racist that it's out of hand.

And the Spurs play with class, eh? Talk about class with Bruce Bowen after he kicked Ray Allen in the back last week.

How do Tat's and being a "thug" go together, or even lots of tat's?

Bruce Bowen is a thug. No doubt about that.

I do think that wolf has a point though, but maybe at a different angle. The Nuggets are being touted as a "physical" team. That means that they battle inside, and body check alot. Doing those things involves tugging jerseys, throwing elbows, levying hard fouls often, setting questionable picks, etc.

These are the guys that could potentially be labled "thugs" on the court:
Patterson
Najera
Reg Evans
Martin
Elson
Buckner
Anthony (ill include him because I saw several cheapshots from him today off of the ball and even one offensive foul where he raised a knee into the chest of a defender)

I totally agree with what you're saying about physical play, but the original poster wasn't talking about thugs on the court, playing physical, etc. He was using the term thug to talk about gangsters, rapper wannabes, etc.

He wasn't using the term thug as an on-court reference, like Bill Lambier. Well, I don't think he was anyways. Just look at his response. The first things he mentioned was K-Mart's incident and Melo's incident two years ago.

I think if you are talking about off-court issues, then Ruben Patterson is the uberthug and is an active member of the Thug Hall of Fame.

You could also include Anthony (for obvious reasons), Martin, and Camby (I could be wrong, but I remember positive drug tests on Camby).

It just so happens that two of those guys are the Nuggets' two most visible players.

What a load of crap.

Carmelo was a teenager then and has matured since. He's learned from his mistakes and has shown plenty of maturity both on and off the court since then. He grew up in the inner city of Baltimore for Christ's sake, did you honestly expect him to be playing golf and hanging out with Bryant Gumbel as soon as he started cashing NBA paychecks? Please.

For as much as I dislike Kenyon, he's never had any off the court issues. Same for Camby. No argument on Patterson, but that's about the only one you were even close on.

I guess if we all could have a lilly white player as our most visible, we could escape the "thug" stigma. But I guess we'll have to live with it because our most recognizable player has comitted the unforgiveable sin of having tattoos & braids while being black.

I have no problem calling out K-Mart or Ruben for obvious reasons. If you really want to call on Melo, fine, but he's done a lot of growing up in his time here.

But that is literally it. The rest of the guys on the team are far from thugs. Hence why I have a problem labeling the whole team the "Thuggets."

The problem with this team is that they have a TON of dog in them. Whether you want to call them thuggish or what, you cannot deny that, and thats going back to last year, the way they played for Bzdelik and Cooper compared to Karl after the AS break, and then this year, once the trade deadline is up, they started playing hard for Karl again. I remember one of his quotes on Mosiers show back in January was "Once the trade deadline is up, I can start demanding more from them."

I hate that about this team. Inconsistent, Inconsistent, Inconsistent.

You'll find no argument for that. Everybody who has watch the Nuggs through the whole season will say that exact same thing. We're probably the most inconsistent team in the league, which seperates us from the really good teams. The talent is there, but call it what you want; drive, focus, intensity.... That is lacking.

100% correct. It has nothing to do with being "thuggish", it has everything to do with effort and execution on a game to game basis.

I wish we can just eliminate the use of that word when describing a basketball player or a bunch of players on a team.

Its an absurd word to use and its annoying and I'm frankly fed up when people use that word when describing basketball players.

And one more thing, Bruce Bowen is not a Thug on the basketball court.

HE'S THE BEST DEFENDER IN THE NBA AND OTHER TEAMS AND THEIR FANS CANT STAND IT.

Tugging jerseys, hard fouls, questionable picks? Sounds like John Stockton. The elbows would be Malone.

To be 100% honest, I agree with this statement. I know I'm the one who brought Bowen's name into this, but I really do like what he does on the court. I was just trying to make a point.

Yeah, I guess Stockton was a thug too. Same for Jordan, Isiah, Bird and a slew of other players.

But they didn't have cornrows or tattoos, so they're safe.
