Default Kareem Rush Cut By Bobcats... Should The Nuggs Take A Look?

Bobcats cut Rush
RICK BONNELL

In what has to be the strangest departure in the Charlotte Bobcats' brief history, the team cut shooting guard Kareem Rush Saturday, with just a handful of games left in the season.

Rush did not play in Friday's loss to the Chicago Bulls and later met with Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff about his status.

This was the second time in the last six games that Rush did not play at all, by coach's decision, after being a starter for much of the season.

"We had a conversation, and it ended abruptly," Bickerstaff told the Observer Saturday. "The young man has an abundance of talent, and I hope he realizes that."

Asked why Rush didn't work out as a Bobcat, Bickerstaff replied, "It's probably my fault," without elaborating.

Bickerstaff indicated in a press release that the issue with Rush might relate to effort.

"The Bobcats are about two things -- hard work and maximum effort," Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think it's best to go in a different direction with Kareem."

Rush makes about $3 million this season, but the Bobcats owe him no guaranteed money beyond this season.

------------------------

Obviously, the reports of him not putting out a maximum effort should be considered, but as I remember, he can shoot the ball. I don't know our situation with money, but if we could somehow cut somebody and sign him, that could be big for us.

Hell yes, anything Bickerstaff gets rid of turn to gold on another team. Just look what he did to the 90s Nuggets and what those players went on to do.

Not unless he magically grows a work ethic within the next day or two.

I don't know if Kareem Rush can't get playing time on the worst team in the league how is suppose to help out the Nuggs? And what is even more terrible than not getting playing time on the worse team in the league is being cut by them.

While I agree with your logic, dude can still shoot better from the outside than anybody on our team currently.

Yes. Get him focused and he has a lot of skills. He can bang the three, and his lefthandedness makes him slightly more difficult to defend. Plus he's 6'6".

Exactly. If nothing else, he's better than DJ.
