Holy crap! Beckett is getting eaten alive. He just gave up two home runs in a row in the first inning.

I was at the Pirates series against the Aholes....and all 18 innings last Sat. night.

Despite the loss on Sunday, I'm here to tell you two things:

1) Bay is the monster that people say he is....take notice of him if you haven't already.

2) The Pirates have turned a corner. Casey is back and the misfortune is ending. If there's any doubt about that, just look at how they're dismantling a very good Brewers team as we speak.

Post season? Definitely not. 500 ball? It's a stretch, but maybe....causing damage? it's a certainity and that's all I could ever ask out of a very young ballclub that's finally getting it's act together.

Is 18 innings a record? If not, what is the record for number of innings?

It's not an MLB record....but it was the longest game in PNC Park history and the longest for the Pirates since 1989

Vernon with 3 dingers. I hope the Jays finally get a sweep tomorrow, and move half a game back of Boston.

Looks like Bay has descended back to the realm of mortal men... 1 for 5, with 1 RBI and 3 strike outs... It was fun while it lasted... I can't wait until the next one.

Thankfully, I guessed right today, and benched Figgins in favor of getting Nick Swisher back in the line-up. Nick is 3 for 3 right now with a homerun, and as I'm typing this is sitting on third base. Not too shabby.

Does anybody know if there's a halfway mark on MLB extra innings where you get a break in the price? I'm getting addicted, and it's only going to get worse as the summer goes on...

Well, it looks as if Jose Castillo is picking up where Bay left off....tonight he homered in his 5th consecutive game in another win for the Buccos over the Brewers. Beat 'em Bucs!!

BOTH my fantasy teams get a boost... I'm thrilled the wait is finally going to pay off! Both of my teams could use the pitching boost, especially my Orange Mane league team. It's going to be great having Pedro and Roger in there to keep my innings pitched up while keeping the ERA low... My pitching staff is getting a huge boost from this. It's great to know that I can just set and forget my SP and RP spots for the rest of the season...

SP - Pedro
SP - Roger
RP - Turnbow
RP - M. Rivera
P - D. Baez
P - G. Maddux
P - C. Young

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself

Pretty nice, but Baez will be losing his closer job in about 24 hours.

Gagne back with Dodgers tomorrow

Across my teams, I've practically got an entire pitching staff coming back in the next couple weeks: Gagne, Harden, Prior, Clemens and a couple others.

When is Prior due back? Has he made any rehab starts in AAA yet?

A week to ten days. At first I thought he was going to return against St Louis on June 3rd, which would have sucked because the Redbirds take great joy in pummeling him. One rehab start already and he was very shaky.

Harden pitched a couple rehab innings for Sacramento out here tonight. The original plan was for him to have a rehab start tomorrow, but they changed their minds. I would have liked to check that out.

Son of a --

That just sucks! Baez has been a steady hand in there... Well, I guess the good news for me is that with Reitsma blowing save after save, I can call up Kenny Ray off the bench.

Closers are the bane of roto geeks. When you have as many teams as I do, there's almost always a closer in crisis somewhere. My current dilemma is volatile Jose Valverde has coughed up the job in AZ to equally volatile Jorge Julio. I wound up with Jose as a last resort third closer on a couple teams and now I have to figure out an alternate plan.

That's one thing that I'm learning... But it's also to the advantage of the wheeler and dealer...

Tell me if I'm crazy... I'm new at this... But I've already got Nick Swisher holding down the 1 bag... But instinct tells me that having Teix on my roster down the stretch might be a good thing, especially in the dog days of Summer... My buddy is sitting on Teix, and is losing a closer in Baez. Would it be insane for me to offer him Joe Nathan in exchange for Teix, and then pick up Kenny Ray out of Free agency to fill the gap?

My rationale being 'How many closing opportunities is Joe Nathan really going to get with the Twins this year?'

I would trade Nathan for Teixeira in a heartbeat. Tex has been a collosal disappointment this year, but he's still one of the top five power hitters in baseball. I wouldn't be surprised to see him crank 15 HRs in a month and get his numbers close to his normal figures.

I wouldn't underrate Nathan's save opps in the second half. Santana and now Liriano are going to keep them in a lot of close games, but I would still make that trade.

Default Jose Lopez Is A God

No one else is even close. The fact that he won't make the All Star squad is close to the crime of the century.

He's now hitting .286 with 9 bombs, 45 rbi's, and the most hits of any second baseman. And he's done all of this as a no. 2 hitter (for most of the season anyways...he's now hitting 3rd) in one of the worst offenses in recorded history (in all sports).

OMG!! I WANT TO KILL SOMEBODY! WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
