Harden leaves in the 4th with an injury. Imagine that!

Harden out 3-6 with a back injury. Hey slap - what's up now with Mr. Durability? He's frail, like I told you all along.

Don't know if you saw this one but the Sox traded for Doug Mirabelli yesterday to specifically handle Tim Wakefields knuckleball (which he had done for the last few years before being included in the Loretta trade.) His replacement Bard had ten passed ball in 5 starts. Wake was on the hill last night against the Yankees. Mirabelli's plane landed at Logan at 6:48. He was given a police escort by Massachusetts staties, changed into his uniform in the car ,got to the ballpark at 7. The game was delayed (conveniently) 4 minutes . He put on his spikes and walked out to warm up Wake. No passed balls and the good guys won 7-3. Who says we don't have our priorities in order using police to escort ballplayers to big games in time.

PHOENIX -- Albert Belle was arrested on a new stalking charge for allegedly making phone calls to a woman he already was charged with harassing.

The 39-year-old former baseball star was arrested by Scottsdale, Ariz., police at his home Wednesday after they investigated new allegations that he made calls to his ex-girlfriend, Sgt. Mark Clark said. Belle is set for a court appearance Thursday in Scottsdale.

Belle was awaiting trial on a felony stalking charge filed in February. The police probable cause statement in that case said his former girlfriend discovered a GPS device that had fallen off her car in January, and that he had threatened her. He was released on bail, subject to electronic monitoring and ordered not to contact her.

Last month, the former girlfriend called police and said she was receiving hang-up phone calls, Clark said. Detectives began an investigation and checked phone records, which showed the calls were coming from Belle. Last week, Belle called and spoke with the woman.

"The nature of the conversation was harassing but not threatening," Clark said.

That was enough probable cause to arrest Belle for felony stalking and violating the previous court order, he said. Clark said because Belle is accused of committing another felony while out on bond, he is ineligible for bail in the new case.

A probable cause statement filed in the new case says the woman "became terrified and asked the defendant if he was crazy contacting her while on release" from the earlier case.

The volatile Belle often ran into trouble on and off the field during his playing days.

A five-time All-Star outfielder, Belle hit 381 career home runs in a 12-year career that began with the Cleveland Indians in 1989. He also played for the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore before retiring in 2000 after his second season with the Orioles.

NEW YORK -- Houston pitcher Russ Springer was suspended for four games Friday after throwing several times at Barry Bonds and eventually hitting the San Francisco star earlier this week.

Astros manager Phil Garner was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball.

The strange sequence Tuesday began when Bonds led off the fifth inning of the Giants' 14-3 win. Springer's first pitch went behind the seven-time NL MVP's back, drawing a warning from plate umpire Joe West.

The next three pitches all came inside, including one that hit Bonds' bat handle for strike one. On the fifth pitch of the at-bat, Springer hit Bonds in the right shoulder. Springer and Garner were then ejected, and the crowd gave Springer a standing ovation. Bonds took his base without incident.

Bonds has hit 713 home runs, one shy of matching Babe Ruth for second place on the career list. Hank Aaron holds the record of 755, and many people believe Bonds' accomplishments are tainted because of alleged steroids use.

Unless there is an appeal, Springer will begin serving his suspension Friday night when the Astros host the Texas Rangers. If he appeals, the suspension will be held up pending a hearing.

Garner is scheduled to serve his suspension on Monday when Houston plays at Washington.

Well worth it.

The story of the year so far in baseball. A remarkable turnaround especially when you consider what happened just 3 years back.

Complete horse ****. There is no reason for that kid to be suspended for four games. B*nds looks like friggin' darth vader at the plate.

I doubt Springer would have been suspended though...if he could have hit him with his first pitch. It took him far too many...it's not like B*nds is getting out of the way of anything.

When the Cardinals come in to Petco a week from tonight...I hope Pujols takes a fastball right in the ass. Hitters today have no fear...because they know that the strike zone is tiny, and that if they are hit...the pitcher will get either ejected, or suspended.

They just can't move anyone off the plate anymore.

Hopefully for the rest of the season B*nds gets intentionally walked with one pitch. With any luck he'll bring out his son again and tell us all how he's been beat down.

What a fag. (No insult to the orangemane's regular baloney bandits intended.)
