I say to the endzone celebrations, let them have their fun. The game is suppose to be fun. If the opposition doesnt want the team or that individual to celebrate in the endzone, THEN DONT LET THEM SCORE.
Committee frowns on end zone celebrations Associated Press ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Spiking the ball in the end zone is OK. So is spinning it on the ground, or dunking it over the goalpost. Dancing in the end zone is fine, too, as long as it's not prolonged or a group effort. Almost all other celebrations will be out if the NFL competition committee's proposal to clamp down further on the frivolities is passed by the owners. "Individual celebration was getting out of hand," Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "The players' association was unanimous in wanting to get this under control." The new emphasis on unsportsmanlike conduct penalties will call for a 15-yard markoff on the ensuing kickoff against the offending team, and possible fines. Players can't use props for any celebrations, and they can't be on the ground. Asked what happens if a player is tackled in the end zone and begins celebrating while down, Fisher said it would be a penalty. "Get up and dance," he said, prompting laughter at a news conference. |

I heard this on ESPN radio. its such BS. they really need to losen up a bit,IMO they're risking a lot of viewers if they decide to be so strict on such things.

Screw the endzone celebrations, let's penalize guys for celebrating after making a tackle 8 yards down the field. That is the biggest bunch of BS I have ever seen besides the CB jawing at WR for not catching a ball that he had no coverage on and was uncatchable.

I don't mind some end zone dances, it makes the game fun but the jawing when you just make a simple tackle is beyond stupid |

Good job by the NFL....they need to crack down on these jackasses....
When you see TO highlights these days...it's not his plays on the football field....it's the crap he does in the endzone....these celebrations make the game neither fun or interesting. In fact, I think that rational is about dumb for supporting them. The only play Espin typically shows of Owens on the field is him beating Champ Bailey...what an honor. |

Unfortuantely, Chad Johnson's celebrations were very creative and its a shame that he will be penalized for them now. |

I like Shanahan's comments: "Act like you've been there before."
The sort of self-serving efforts by some to get themselves on ESPN Highlights for their endzone antics is a waste of air. Just like the streakers of old, it is nothing more than publicity "ho-ing". Taunting opponents also sucks. I don't think it is particularly "cute" or "funny." Celebrating a sack after the other guys on the line have been busting their bums to get you free is about as egotistical as anything. The problem is that as along as wars and games are drivern by testoterone induced hallucinations, there will be some level of smack, flexing and chest beating involved, not unlike the prairie chicken's little dance. I applaud the League's effort to reign in the excessive celebrations that subtract from the game and humiliates the status of players to that of a clown. |

I may be in the minority on this, but I think the celebrations are funny and they make me laugh, even when someone does it on the Broncos.
Look, to me, sports is meant to be fun and its entertainment, its not life or death - they are not policticians or docters or lawyers, they are playing a kid's game while being grown ups. Let them have fun. |

I dig celebrations as long as the don't hold up the game. As for the new rules against them, why does it matter if you are on the ground? That's just plain stupid.

As long as it's not over the top, fine.
Certain old schoolers in Dallas must be gritting their teeth and grinding their teeth over T.O. and the Star. TWICE Giving resussitation to a football? A sharpie in the sock. No. |

I dont really see it as a lack of sportsmanship. As far as opponents go if you want them to stop celebrating, dont let them score.

The really interesting issue in all of this is, is that it's these celebrations that are what people talk about during the week. These celebrations really keep the NFL on people's minds.
Now granted, I know that the NFL is the most popular sport in the USA because of the play, and I don't want to imply it's popular because of celebrations. That's not the case at all. But, again, it's the celebrations that are headlining sportscenter, and it's the celebrations that everybody talks about that week. I find it very interesting that the league would curb that. |

I could care less about the celebrations. just as long as we score and win the game. if players want to do their dances or whatever that's fine. just don't penalize the team.

I disagree...people talkabout what the see on highlight films regardless of the content..because as much as I ahte to say...most people don't watch football like the majority of people here. I think you're seeing a situation where the NFL is trying to seperate itself from the likes of Espin and ABC. These celebrations are the epitome of the individual over-valuing himself against his own team in the ultimate team sport. People talk about it because it's what Espin pushes on the public...and Espin isn't good for sports like people think. |
