Default Adam Morrison

If Bode Miller exuded 1/10th the heart/passion/emotion that Morrison did last night people might actually give a rats ass about the olympics.

What Morrison showed last night is everything that's right with sports.

Plenty of Olympians showed that kind of heart/passion/emotion. The media insists on fixating on the crybabies, though.

Morrison choked IMO.

First, he should have after passing cross court, cut hard to the middle of the floor and made himself availible for the pass. Then, he didn't hustle back as the Bruin made the gimme layup for the lead, Morrison was RIGHT behind him and could have blocked or at leasted fouled him, he showed no hustle.

Then, he was in the backcourt when they Zag on the baseline threw it, he should have been down there to catch it rather than go for a half courter for the win.

He cried like a baby which shows he cares, but his effort was lacking IMO.

the media fixates on those that are highly promoted going into the games. The dualing speed skaters, Bode, Lindsay Jacabellis, Sasha, etc.

Morrison was awesome last night and has been his entire stay at Gonzaga. I'm not a Gonzaga fan and I still feel empty after that loss.

I actually thought it was funny when Morrison started his tears before the game was finally over and he realized his mistake and held it in until Batista missed the final shot and THEN he ran to the middle of the floor and started his "I can't believe we lost the game tears" while the rest of his teammates huddled and grieved together. I thought the whole sequence was quite odd.

He made some mistakes, yes. But to say his effort was lacking is absurd.

If Bode Miller succeeded in the Olympics, it wouldn't be much of a story. The fact that he was such a screw-up MADE the headlines and might have made some people watch. I didn't watch the Olympics for Bode Miller and I don't watch the NCAA tournament for Adam Morrison.

That is absolutely absurd. He played a terrific game. His point guard was the one who tried to be the hero and drive all the way to the basket. He wasn't even looking for Morrison.

Batista was more to blame than Morrison, IMO. He got an offensive board with 1:30 left, up by 5 I think, and instead of kicking it back out and using another 30 seconds, he immediately put it back up (and missed). He also failed to see a WIDE OPEN Raivio right there at the end. Raivio is a 90% FT shooter.

I really don't see how anyone could put that on Morrison.

agreed

plus Morrison is what
20 years old, give him a break

Morrison played really well and to put that on him is stupid, it was a total team choke job

After Morrison passed to Batista, Raivo was standing ungaurded underneath the basket. Instead of holding on to the ball, he just had to dump it right back off.

Batista started the beginning of the end with that unnecessary foul with 49 seconds left. THEN lost the ball. THEN missed the gamewinner. He's the one who choked if you ask me.

BUT, it's a team effort, and UCLA should never have gotten that close at the end. Such is the tourney.

Morrison is a beast, played like a beast, and rightfully so, broke down like someone who gave his best game and came up short.

Give the guy props on a stellar year. Zags don't have lots of experience playing big-time games and the last 3 minutes kind of attests to that. THey coasted thru a mid-major type conference while the Bruins were playing games that mattered in a top-flite conference.

Morrison couldn't guard ME with a gun and a badge but the guy's a stellar collegiate offensive player.

It looked like Morrison was up against one of the best defensive teams in country. The guy takes insulin shots during timeouts. I know a lot of people don't like him, but I never heard somebody say he didn't hustle.

I can say from covering the Western Michigan men's basketball team last year and the women's team as well, I attended a lot of practices, covered a lot of the games and got to know them off the court - the college game is emotional.

Its hard for us who dont play to understand the emotions involved.

I've seen high school and college kids cry like Morrison did last night and had to interview them with tears coming down their faces.

Thats part of the college and high school game as well. Its tough on them because they are just kids and they bust their humps and when something like that happened to Gonzaga last night, you tend to lose it, doesnt matter if its in front of the eyes of the nation or a few in the stands.

Fairly ironic that you have a picture of Kenyon Martin as your Avatar, and you are questioning Adam Morrison's effort. Something doesn't seem to add up here. The guy played a great game, had a awesome season, and you are raggin on him. I'm not a Morrison faithful, but last night passion after he lost was nice to see. He was doing what every Zag fan out there felt.

Bingo...

And guys, you wouldn't see someone else on Gonzaga flipping out like a dying seal after that game (say if Morrison wasn't there). Morrison is just weird like that. He beats on his head when he scores on a simple runner. He's very different...

I'm not saying he doesn't give effort, or that showing emotion is wrong. But, bawling like someone just stole your candy cane is a little out there IMO. There's nothing wrong with a basketball player crying (JJ Reddick) or anything like that. If I was on that UCLA team and saw Morrison's reaction, I would've been wondering what the heck his deal is...

I think he's just an extremely emotional guy. I've seen it happen before, it'll probably happen again. It didn't seem that out of the ordinary to me

Well put. He is extremely emotional. Not too many extremely emotional kinds like him out there though, IMO.

Speaking of emotion, was I the only one that got pumped up from watching Tyrus Thomas yesterday? That was intense...

Is that Anna Kournikova in your avatar? It sort of adds a bit of irony to your original post on this thread, wouldn't you say?
