Default Tamba Hail has a bad pro day

Tamba Hali - DL - Player

Tamba Hali ran a 4.88 at his Pro Day.
Yikes. This won't help the 'tweener because he looks too slow to play outside linebacker. He also only out 225 pounds 17 times. Hali could fall out of the first round in the draft. Mar. 17 - 7:52 pm et

Im not sure what others think about that, I know people where high on him during the senior bowl though.

Awesome. I hope that teams put far too much stock in these workouts and let him fall. Grab him at 22 and Kiwanuka at 29 and we'll be set at DE for years to come.

wow, i'm drooling over the possibility of Kiwi & Hali falling out of the 1st or atleast well within Denver's picks

one way or another on draft day a dynamic DE comes to the Broncos

There was a chance Hali was going to be there at 22, now there is a chance he will be there at 29.

My first choice at 22 is still Bunkley, followed by DW2

I would LOVE for Hali to be there when we pick. I don't care what the numbers say, he's a full speed football player that would be perfect for Denver.

My ideal first round would be Bunkley/Hali, but I'd take Hali/Kiwi and still be smiling.

No chance. Some thread had a link to Yahoo talking about the Pro Day and supposedly the Browns don't think he'll last to even their pick at 12.

Only speed I care about in a DE is their time in the first 15 yards....If that is lightening quick then that is pretty much all that matters.

Yeah I posted the link on the "better mock" thread. The draft guy from NFL Total Access was saying that he looked great at FSU pro day and might be the first DT off the board

I don't see why people still consider Hali a tweener guy, or ever did. He's 6'3 - 275 pounds which is solid for a defensive end. Nice, maybe we can get him!

Great news. Maybe he kind of choked up, who knows what happened? Anyone who's seen the kid play knows he's very quick off the football and he redirects well. All the natural pass rush skills are present. I would say jump on him @ 22 unless someone even better slips.

I think this would be a great idea. If one of them pans out, its a solid draft already. If both of them pan out, its one of the best drafts in team history. I think they would probably develop a natural competitive rivalry and push each other to be better.

Hali is not a workout warrior, I don't know why this surprises people. He's an average athlete for the NFL level, but he knows how to play DE and outworks every other DE in this draft. He's a lot like VandenBosch.

If he slides to 29 I'd love to see us take him. I'd take him at 22, but I wouldn't be surprised if this slides him down further.

That's my hope two. Shoot both firsts on the number one need position. One of them should pan out. Of course I thought the same when Kiki drafted Nene and the european twig.

With Lang signing and Ekuban, Brown, and Engleberger all under contract, it seems doubtfull they will take two DEs. I'm hoping for one DE and one DT. SoCal stated on another thread that he heard/read that we were not hot on any of the DL prospect, and that worries me. You'vbe got to take a shot on these guys at some point. We've only drafted 5 DL on the drafts first day in the entire Shanny era. Even if none of the guys knock his socks off, you've got to invest some youth into the position at some point if you want to be successful long term.

The only spots that I am content with our starting players along the D-line are Warren and Brown. The rest IMO are quality backups including Lang, Myers, and Ekuban.

I'm afraid that with the Lang singing Shanny is going to call it good along the DE area, and since they don't like any of the DT's in the draft I'm afraid that they won't address that any more either. Hell I wouldn't be suprised to see us completely ignore these two vital areas in the draft. The implosion here on the mane would be monumental. Save for one possible scenario....DW2/White and Pope/Lewis. Which I think is a very likely scenario.

I won't go crazy if they go all Offense in round one if they do something like Wroten/ Anderson in rounds 2/3.

Unfortunately, I'm getting the same feeling. I'm going to play 'wait and see'. I like the Lang move if he is being viewed as Coleman's replacement, but not at all if he is Pryce's replacement. It all depnds on the context.

The NFL isn't the NHL or NBA, you can't afford to double up on one position in the same round.

It worked out for the Jets, but I agree. We still can go DT and DE though

umm, I dunno. I won't be surprised if they use one of the picks on a TE, and I suspect they will, because it's deep at that position. Shanny doesn't use firsts to take qbs or rbs, two skill positions. He's blown two no 1s on corners, but obviously Den isn't drafting corners this year. He won't draft a linebacker. My guess is TE and DE in either order. But, rookies are fairly cheap, capwise. So, with all the cap in Warren's contract, it would make a certain sense to take two DEs, assuming there is one who can evolve to a LDE as he physically matures. And, then draft a new DT for big money's slot 4 years down the road, when it's time to pay the bigggg money to the new defensive players.

I still think they'll take a TE and speed rush DE, and maybe some flyers on dlinemen later on. Esp with the free agent. A rook can rotate in on passing downs.

I sorta think Tamba will get bigger and can play LDE at some pt. Kiwi looks like a prototypical RDE. jmo.
