Default Chiefs moving to LA sooner than we think?

Quote:
The Chiefs have been in Arrowhead Stadium since 1972 but could be in a refurbished facility with a retractable roof by 2010 if Jackson County voters approve a $777 million overhaul of the stadium April 4, paid for by a three-eighths of a cent sales tax. If it passes it would raise $575 million and the Chiefs and Royals would extend their leases for 25 years. If not, the Chiefs would be free to move as early as 2007. Citizens believe aging owner Lamar Hunt would never abandon Kansas City and they're right, but his son, Clark, is fed up and would be in Los Angeles by nightfall if the vote goes against the Chiefs because he believes the team needs to expand its local revenues with a new stadium, and fast. The NFL has already promised the city the 2015 Super Bowl as a bribe (sorry, incentive) if the vote goes the right way

I hope they move because LA is not going to support that football team, especially when there is a large number of raider fans here in LA.

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: On second thought, I agree with 24champbailey. The Chiefs and these excuses for "fans" deserve each other.

1) Lamar already moved this team once.

2) Clark isn't Lamar. He doesn't have the history or loyalty Lamar does.

3) Both votes fail, the Chiefs will have a new home.

4) This happens I'll start sniping people from the highest point in town. Raider fans first, then I'll work my way up...

When push comes to shove, the Chiefs will be going nowhere. They are the city's only premier team. They'll go along with the cost of various renovations if thats what it takes to keep them.

The people here don't think that way, and neither does the legislature here in Jefferson City.

To most, St. Louis is the flagship city and whatever happens in KC is secondary.

The State, city, and county have absolutely no leverage.

WTF is KC without the Chiefs, and WTF are you going to do with that empty stadium?

I can't see the Chef's moving. I hope not. It would be like losing the class sissy. It's not that hard to fund a stadium renovation, altho I don't know why they need 777 million for just "renovations"....Christ, just build a brand new one for that kind of paper. Not sure, but ours was like 450 or 500 and sparkling new. I haven't seen the plans, but that's alot to put into a 30+ year old stadium.

Denver put in a simple 1 mill tax (one cent on 100 dollars I think), and we got Coors payed off early (god knows what's wrong with that place), and just extended it to the New Mile High. It's a great sports complex with the Pepsi Center as well, and close to downtown.

That just seems alot to ask of an old stadium both in performance and money spent. Where are they supposed to play while they are doing this? Just build a new one for that kind of money. I bet there isn't more than a handfull of Bronco fans that would want to see the Chefs leave. It's like Green Bay vs. the Bears of the AFL.

Revovations can a lot of times be more expensive than just demolition and starting from scratch. There are a myriad of ractors to consider. Rebuilding the core structure to support, allow for and opperate a retractable roof, for example, is one of many things that are more complicated and expensive than one might suppose.

Also KC is smaller than Denver and is one of two football teams in the state. That's not even their original home anyway. Denver is twice the population of KC and the only football team in the region, let alone state.

Comparing the funding for the Invesco stadium to the funding they're trying to get for Arrowhead's renovation is like comparing apples to cats.

Leave Beezer out of this...he's not concerned with more than giving himself a tounge bath right now.

What does your pet earworm think? Throw one in Andre Carter's ear so he's open to suggestion.

Well it should be interesting which team - Chargers or Chefs- get to LA first. Wouldn't it be great if Charger get to LA first and Chefs had to moved to Portland or Birmingham AL

People that like football should not be happy about this. Chief's fan, Bronco's fan, Edmonton Eskimo's fan--I don't care. The Chief's belong in KC, and both Denver and KC fans should have the privledge of watching our teams go into the other's house every year and deal with the same type of loud, crazy, dedicated fans that they get the support of at home.

I wonder if the Omaha Royals can give the real Royals a good game.

Why? They could all just move out to LA and help "Hillbilly-fy" that area of the country.
