Default Clayton's Free Agency Overview-Warren Best Prospect

3. Tackling free agency: The deepest position is defensive tackle. Already, two defensive tackles received contracts worth $3.5 million a year or more: Chris Hovan to stay with the Bucs and La'Roi Glover, who was signed by the Rams.

From Sam Adams to Ted Washington to Grady Jackson to Ryan Pickett to Lional Dalton to Maake Kemoeatu to Russell Davis to Kendrick Clancy, the list of run-stopping tackles is deep.

There are also some interesting tackles who fit three-technique schemes. Rocky Bernard is coming off an 8½-sack season on the Seahawks. Damione Lewis and Larry Tripplett are former high-round choices with athletic skills. The best prospect on the market is Gerard Warren of the Broncos, but they're scrambling to re-sign him Friday.

John Clayton usually has good things to say about Denver. I don't think he's biased, but by far is my favorite writer for ESPN.

True! It just pains me to watch him say it. Always wondering when that little ball of spit is going to fly off his bottom lip. Hate that I even notice it...Yuck!

CLOSING IN: Joel Siegel, Gerard Warren's agent, said Thursday night he had "significant conversations" with the team regarding re-signing the defensive tackle and that talks would continue today. Warren has made it clear he wants to return to the Broncos rather than gauge his value in the free-agent market.
Watch the news wires closely today.

I like Clayton and Mortenson myself. The rest are all sensation and little fact.

I would love for us to re-up WARREN, and then sign Larry Tripplett...

That would be a BEAST of a middle...

I think that Pittsburgh still owns Tripletts contract. I hear they paid a pretty penny to pry him loose from Bill Belicheck's grasp.

No, not even close.

FA DTs rarely work out.

I never watched the Colts close enough but I always thought he was one of the best in the league. He isn't hardly even getting mentioned this year.

Maybe he is washed up maybe he wasn't very good to start with.
