Home Of Killed Soldier's Family Vandalized
Police Monitoring Property

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A slain soldier's family has been the target of vandalism and prank phone calls in the days since he died, police and a family acquaintance said.

Eggs were thrown at the house of Sgt. Rickey Jones' family, trash was left in the yard and an American flag was taken from a pole on the property, police said.

Jones' mother also has received prank phone calls since he died last week when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, according to John Ayres, a friend of the family and the commander of VFW Post 1152.

Ayres said he and a fellow military veteran took a new U.S. flag to the home after the first one was taken.

Police said they don't know who is behind the vandalism, theft or phone calls. They said they have started monitoring the house closely.

A funeral for Jones is set for Monday. Members of a Kansas church known for protesting military funerals have made plans to attend, 6News' Jennifer Carmack reported.

The Rev. Fred Phelps, the church's founder, contends American soldiers are being killed in Iraq as vengeance from God for protecting a country that harbors gays. The church, which is not affiliated with a larger denomination, is made up mostly of Phelps' children, grandchildren and in-laws.

A bill that would prohibit protests within 500 feet of a funeral passed the Indiana House on Tuesday afternoon. The Indiana Senate also is expected to pass it this week, and the governor could sign it and have it in effect before Jones' funeral, Carmack reported.

Almost sounds Arab-like in its stupidity.

As for this family that is being harassed, they need to look into the laws governing the use of firearms against trespassers. I'm guessing that if these people are a threat, and they seem to be... this family should be allowed to sit calmly on their front porch... warn these dopes to stay off their property.... and when they don't, just start pumping rounds into them.

Amen.

Since every male needs to sign a selective service card, I highly recommend that we draft their ass and send them to Iraq. Let see what they think about that about that turn of events. I really hope that the followers of this wacko experience the 100 times grief and pain that poor Service family members are dealing with.

Agreed. I don't own a gun, but if this kind of shiit started happening to my family, I'd buy a shotgun pretty damn quick.

In Texas, you can legally kill any person trespassing on your land. All I need is a sign or two...

My brother and my dad both went to Iraq, in fact, my dad is back there now, training Iraqi military units on border patrol in western Iraq. Its easy for some people, like this Phelps character to claim it is holy retribution for our soldier's deaths, because these ass clowns dont have anyone over there to worry about.

Shoot, the Bible endorses homosexuality.

1 Samuel 18:3-4
"And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt."

Here you have Johnathan getting naked David. Sounds pretty homosexual to me.

1 Samuel 20:41
"After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with is face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept together - but David wept the most."

Here they are kissing. The bond was strong no doubt.

2 Samuel 1:26
"I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother; you were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women."

Here you have David writing love poetry to Johnathan.

So the next time some religious zealot starts staying that "God" doesn't endorse homosexuality just tell them to read the bible. Without a doubt Jesus was pro-homo.

It is simply the select few of ignorant backwards arse bible thumping bafoons that have trouble understanding the Bible as it was written. How can you deny the loving and strong bond of Johnathan and David that "GOD" wrote about in the Bible. These are his words correct? So to each is his own, I say.

Gonzo...get a life. Your blatent hatred of Christianity is pathetic. Way to take everything out of context buddy. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9, and tell me that the Bible says homosexuality is ok. 1 Corinthians 7:1-4 also talks about how to act as husband and wife...to only your husband, or wife...not with either/or husband and husband, or wife/wife. You took a couple verses, and took them so far out of context, its laughable. Men, and women aslo, kissed eachother on the cheeks in Biblical times. They still do it in parts of the world. They must be all gay too huh? Jonathan was making a covenant with David in that passage. It was a pledge of loyalty and friendship. He gave David his robe, sword, and belt as a sign of this. That was very common then. It was a way Jonathan was acknowledging that David was going to be Sauls successor.

When David wrote Jonathan, David was not suggesting that a marital love is inferior to that of friendship, nor do his remarks have any sexual implications. He is simply calling attention to Jonathans nearly inexplicable self-denying commitment to David, whom he had long recognized as the Lord's choice to succeed his father rahter than himself.

Please get it straight before to try and bash christians again. I guess you cant see Men loving eachother without them being gay...

Absolute buffoonery! The love between David and Johnathan was unequivocally and absolutely gay by nature. In ancient Israel it was not considered proper for man and woman to have a relationship that was considered platonic. Men and women rarely even spoke to each other in public. That was the times my friend. So as David tells Jonathan his love for him is stronger than that of woman he is speaking directly in a sexual manner. A love for a woman back then could mean only thing since men and women were not friends as they are today. Either they slept with each other or they did not associate with one another.

So history does not back up your stance of hatred for homosexuals and neither does common sense back up your skewed view of the Bible. Jonathan disrobed and got naked for David, David kissed Jonathan and David professed that his love for Jonathan was stronger than a woman. Yet this does not describe a homosexual relationship? Buffoonery!

Revealing kind of like how Johnathan revealed himself to David in the Bible? Dear God I hope not. I hope you don't greet people like that either.

Slow down, skippy. You are such a sensitive b****. You get so worked upped anytime homosexuality is mentioned. Is that why you smoke and drink all day? A guilty conscience? Do you yearn for the forbidden fruit? They are plenty organizations you could join to help with that problem. Good luck to your bro, everybody deserves to be happy.

Being born gay is like being born with a physical or mental abnormality, it's just a psychological abnormality. My God realizes this and would never punish a person born this way.

Again, prove it.

I am Catholic, and this institution has been historically so wrong so many times I have absolutely no reason to assume its leaders in the Vatican have absolute knowledge. For that matter, any christian sect (or virtually any other religion) has a history of truly screwing things up when it came to any form of scientific knowledge. That is why their realm is AND SHOULD REMAIN about faith and its connection to God, and the other endeavors pertaining to knowledge should be left to other human disciplines and practices.
