SAY HELLO TO THE NEXT LUNATIC

Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, Mar. 02 – Iran’s radical President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared on Thursday in Malaysia that Islam will be the dominant power in the “near future”, the official state news agency reported.

“The near future will be in the hands of Islam”, Ahmadinejad said after a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with the King of Malaysia. He cited the victory of the Islamist group Hamas in the recent Palestinian elections as a sign of the rise of Islamism in the world.

“History has shown that when Muslims become powerful, they do not use their power to the detriment of others, but use it in the service of peace and tranquillity”, Ahmadinejad said.

The Iranian president’s vision of a world dominated by Islam in the “near future” is bound to exacerbate concern in the West and among moderate Muslims, who are alarmed by his strong views on the “imminent return” of the Shiite messiah, the Mahdi.

“Ahmadinejad is on record as saying that he sees his main mission as being that of preparing the stage for the return of the Mahdi”, said Ali Basrawi, an Iraqi Shiite political analyst living in London. “He belongs to a school of thought that believes the Mahdi would return only when the world is in deep crisis. That political philosophy, particularly if devoutly believed in, could lead to very erratic and unpredictable decisions by the president of a country on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons”.

Ahmadinejad told the Malaysian monarch that Muslims around the world bear a very heavy responsibility to introduce Islam to others.

He accused “nuclear powers” of “bullying and threatening” smaller nations.

Soooooooooooooooo to even things out just threaten the whole world..

Just think:

Bush has essentially traveled the long way to replace one of the only secular regimes in the region with a government that is alligned with people like this guy.

Mission accomplished!

Yeah, but just because Iraq's government was secular doesn't mean Sadaam(SP?) wasn't a POS.

No one denies he is a POS.

However, there are lots of brutal dictators and oppressive regimes in the world.

The real question is whether the invasion and occupation of Iraq is/was detrimental to U.S. interests or not.

Gallup: 2 Out of 3 Americans Want U.S. Pull Out from Iraq

Editor & Publisher | March 3 2006

NEW YORK While newspaper editorials remain virtually silent on the subject, the American public seems to have made up its mind. A new Gallup/CNN/USA Today poll out tonight shows that 2 out of 3 adult Americans now want U.S. troops to start to come home from Iraq. And 55% call the decision to attack Iraq in 2003 a "mistake."

The same poll found President Bush's approval rating plunging to 38%. It was even lower in a CBS poll earlier this week: 34%.

In the poll, 38% said some troops should be withdrawn from Iraq now with another 27% say they all should come home.

Bush's handling of Iraq drew the support of just 35%, while 64 percent said they disapprove.

Of the 1,020 adults surveyed, 59% said President Bush can no longer manage the government effectively.

Agreed. I just meant if your a POS who will commit the crimes Sadamm did, it really doesn't make it better that he wasn't a fanatic of any religion. Although I admit that the religious nuts tend to be diehards. If we ever to get Bin Laden, I would bet he won't be taken alive and will not be found hiding in a spider hole.

But if someone kills you or tortures you, it really doesn't matter if he believes in a God or not.

The point is that Bush has replaced a secular regime that was hostile to entities like Osama Bin Laden, al Qaeda, and the Iranian Mullahs with a government that is alligned with them.

Just ask the victims of Abu Ghraib and the detainees at all the other BushCo secret torture facilities and they will undoubtedly tell you the same thing.

I don't totally buy that argument, but I can see the point your trying to make and I think there is some truth to that. I'm not sure I'm 100% on board, because it seems to me that Iran has been ran by one nut or another for as long as I can remember.
