i just turned on 950 and scott hastings and alfred williams are reporting that mike anderson, jeb putzier, and trevor pryce have been released.
im just in shock. i dont get it. mike is a leader who wouldve restructured. jeb is a guy that i think we can afford to lose, but why ante up last year (matching the jets' offer) and then cut ties? as for pryce, i dont care what the stats showed. he's one of the best d-linemen out there, and thats our biggest position of need. this whole thing is a mess, and the deal not getting done with owners and players is a mess. im just distraught. jake |

SOB.
I didn't want Putzier or Anderson to get cut. Maybe we can sign them back. |

I'd rather lose them than Warren or Lepsis. I wouldn't be surprised if we resigned Anderson, and Pryce is not a very good DE. We need pressure from our front four.

I don't think they had a choice. Sounds like Courtney must have agreed to a restructure, because he was on the list too. Pryce said he would restructure, but wouldn't take a pay cut. I doubt the Broncos had much choice.

well, Tatum, Ron, and Wesley, get ready. this kinda came out of nowhere. I don't remember hearing about Anderson being a possible cut. I'm very disappointed about Mike.

Anderson had only 1 year left on his deal so he would've had to been extended rather than restructured.
Putzier only had $1 million pay day so big deal and most on here dont think he's starting material plus if he cant block after 3-4 seasons will he ever be able to? Pryce was always gonna be cut. |

I Anderson will be back. He won't get much from other teams. Pryce I hope doesn't come back. I'm mixed on how I feel about Putz though. I still think he was underused in the passing game.

Cutting Pryce was inevitable. Cap number was way to big with or without restructuring. MA, that's a tough one. Maybe there's a plan to resign him down the road. I'm sure there won't be a ton of interest in the open market. Jeb, now that's a head scratcher. Does this mean we have a plan for Wesley Duke. If so, then is wouldn't make sense to allocate him to NFL Europe.

any chance we resign Anderson?
Pryce seemed to be a goner anyway, and Jeb, while I'll miss his huge plays on third downs, is replaceable. I guess (READ: hope) that the coaching staff is sold on Bell and Dayne as our RBs, Duke/Alexander as our TE, and have faith in resigning Warren and maybe drafting DL. |

We might sign Anderson or Putz back....it's all about the CBA. I'm pissed off.
It's going to screw up rookie contracts too...Upshaw is an absolute idiot. |

I'm not upset about Pryce, and we can get a younger RB in the draft. Anderson was beginning to wear down although his veteran leadership will be missed.
What hurts IMO is Putzier. We don't have very many weapons offensively (sorry TO is too expensive meck). Instead of being able to focus solely on D-line in the first day of the draft we now have to worry about getting a TE. |

I was surprised Alexander wasn't let go instead. It's hard to say what T.O. will bring. Sundy didn't sound too excited about him...he's been busy cutting fat...
Dallas has more room than we do anyway... |

Alexander was a good blocker, and maybe we feel solid on Duke.

This is a shock, but I don't this this hurts the team much.
The Broncos are never hurting for RBs. Jeb was good, but wasn't a difference maker. I've supported Pryce, and hate to see him go, but lets be honest, the strength of the front 7 is the LBs. The D linemen have pretty much been taking up blockers so the LBs can run around and make tackles. Fast LBs and hard hitting safeties make the run D work. The Broncos are damn near under the cap with these three moves alone. If this is the worst of the cuts, the Broncos will be in very good shape going into next year. |

Denver was been interested in Dominique Byrd (TE) out of USC, so maybe we'll call his name in round two? Joe Klopfenstein, a local kid from CU could get his name called too.
All these guys can be replaced, but I cannot imagine Mikey wearing another jersey. I'll miss his leadership. |
