Default Emergency owners meeting called for early Thursday

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports an emergency owners meeting has been called for Thursday, March 2, at 8:30 a.m. in New York. If there are any signs of progress in the CBA talks, there is a chance the start of the free agent period will be delayed. If the talks break down again, several high-profile veteran profiles could get cut Friday, March 3, as teams comply with the salary cap.

Don't worry. As long as there's a loser Raider in charge of one side, it will crumble...just like their "storied franchise."

Tagliabue has said that the PA is "overreaching" and intends to prove it to everyone present. Sounds like this isn't about "the nine" at all.

I agree. This is TNT. Law & Order at it's finest. Drama is much more entertaining.

Wouldn't it be kinda funny if the shrewdest guy in all this - the one who made out better than anybody - was John Engleberger?

"PFW Whispers" already questioned why his deal was so generous, and that was when they though a there was a decent shot for a new CBA. Now he'll look like Einstein or something after Bloody Thursday.

Upshaw has to drag it out as long as possible so as to appear less like the owners' b****. Most of the players felt like he sold them out the last time they averted a major labor crisis. I doubt if anything will change this time around.

So do you really think this is all just posturing by Upshaw? I've heard that from more than one analyst. I happen to think that Upshaw is fearing he'll lose his job if he doesn't do this and that his desperation and dogged display is "real", albeit horribly timed and selfishly motivated.

I think he'll lose his job if a lot of high profile players are cut and have to play for pennies because he couldn't get a deal done.
