Default Post Your Ideal Broncos Day 1 Draft

Here's a group I'd be really happy with.

1A.

1B.

2.

3A.

This might be more wet dream than reality but he has been slipping and has been called by some a 3rd round prospect.

3B. (projected compensatory)

Yeah.

Dont worry about the pictures too much though (3A is tough, its a Bing Cherry), what is everyone's ideal haul on Day 1?

oh I thought 3a was Nick Mangold because of the mangling cherrys. You think Bing will fall to the third round?

I could see him falling to the early third, perhaps...just perhaps middle third...his name hasnt been has hot lately as it was during the season. We will need some luck to have him fall to the late third, but its possible, just unlikely. That's why I said its probably more wet dream than reality but I have read from several sources that he could go in Late 2 or the 3rd.

I like your first two, that would be ideal for me as well.

If Mangold is around for our 2nd, that would be my pick...Give him a couple years to mentor under Nails.

3A. Blue/Byrd Not sure what Blue's stock is right now but we are going to need to start looking for a safety soon, Lynch is loosing a step. If we are going to free up some cap room, this is the year to get rid of Putz and pick up a TE, pretty deep.
3B. Hank Baskett I don't know why but I really like this kid. Has a solid head on his shoulders and is a big possession type reciever. Don't ever see him developing into a #1 but could be a solid #2 or slot. I think he might be a bit of a reach but I dont see him being around for us on day two.

I like that QB from Oregon as well, i'm not sold on VanPeltt and this kid looks good. Don't know if his ankle would be of concern or not.

I agree on Mangold, if he slips to 2, its an easy choice. That way we could keep Hamilton at guard where he is excelling. Im pretty sure Mangold has a ticket to the first round tho. I have Byrd rated as the No. 5 TE, but if he is there at 3A, he would be an excellent selection. I dont know much about Baskett so I cant comment on him but from the reports I read, he didnt do too well at the senior bowl practices.

I've always been a big fan of Kiwi. I think he's gonna be a player, but I'd rather have Lawson at this point.

1a. Lawson (I don't think Bunk makes it to 22 now)
1b. Pope (Lawson wouldn't make it to 29 now and 4.6 for a 6'6 TE is good!)
2. Darnell Bing (going with SoCal's logic that he's slipping... if he's there at the end of round 2, I don't think we pass on him.
3. Derek Hagan (Slipping, but won't slide out of the 3rd)
3 comp. Mark Anderson (provided he does slip)

Wow, close to the same page here... atleast w/first round picks. I think Lawson moved up quite a bit though. I wouldn't be suprised if he was off the board when we pick at 22.

I'm a little concerned about Pope moving up too. 4.6 at his size! I could live with Wimbley if Lawson is gone. There would be a lot of finger crossing that the guys I listed would be around but it is supposed to be our ideal draft. Certainly possibe these guys could be around. I think you are right, though, Lawson at 29 might be a stretch.

Again, just my amateur opinion - but I think both Bunkley and Lawson have raised their draft value at the combine. So unless Draft Studio Value has updated their boards since the combine began - I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

But the fun of the draft is that no one knows what will happen!

I don't see how people are thinking we're going to get a third and a fourth for compensation. More than likely just a third, or a fourth.
