Adopt-a-Bronco:
Nate Irving
Default Leonard Pope: speed between 4.5 and 4.6

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/int...onardpope.htmlFor those too lazy to click:

Scott Wright: What is your accurate height, weight and forty time?

Leonard Pope: 6'8, 260-pounds, speed between 4.5 and 4.6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: You obviously have rare size for the position. In what ways does that help you and is it a hindrance at times as well?

Leonard Pope: Helpful: By creating match up problems; Hindrance: Sometimes I tend to get elongated on my blocking, but I'm getting better everyday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Most assume Vernon Davis will be the first tight end chosen, how do you feel about that and did you consider going back to school to be the top senior at your position a year from now?

Leonard Pope: I feel that Vernon Davis is a good athlete and is working hard to be the first Tight-End selected in the draft. I believe in working as hard as I can at all times and the outcome will dictate itself. As for my decision to enter into the 2006 draft, it was based on my family, belief in God and confidence in my talent.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: What do you feel is your greatest strength as a football player and what area do you feel you need to improve in?

Leonard Pope: My greatest strength is my size, speed, and knowledge of the game. I need to improve on running routes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: What NFL tight end do you most admire and who do you think you compare favorably to?

Leonard Pope: Ben Watson, who taught me a lot during my early years at Georgia, also Randy McMichael who provide me with sound advise always. In addition Tony Gonzalez regarding height and Crumpler in relation to good hands.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Who is the best player you have faced during your career?

Leonard Pope: Marcus Spears and Erasmus James

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: What is your greatest football moment to date?

Leonard Pope: Georgia's 1st victory in 10 years against Florida when I had my best college game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Who was your favorite college and pro team growing up? Did you have a favorite player?

Leonard Pope: University of Georgia and the Dallas Cowboys. At Georgia Champ Bailey and Deion Sanders during his Super Bowl year with the Cowboys.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: At what point did you realize that you might have a future in football beyond college?

Leonard Pope: My sophomore year when I started breaking all the Tight-End records at Georgia. After that I wanted to get better every day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: What do you plan to do once your playing career is over?

Leonard Pope: Run a successful business, continue to be a part of football on the NFL level.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Is there one player at Georgia that you see developing into a star, either at the college or pro level?

Leonard Pope: Mohamed Massaquoi and A.J. Bryant.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: When you get your first professional paycheck what is the first thing you will buy?

Leonard Pope: My Mom a house and to make sure that she is financially secure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: How have you been preparing and training since the end of your college season?

Leonard Pope: All day, everyday, twice a day at the API (Athlete's Performance in Arizona) training facility.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Obviously it is still early, but do you have any goals in mind when it comes to the NFL Draft (Round One, Top Three Rounds, etc.)? What kind of projection did the Underclassmen Advisory Panel give you?

Leonard Pope: Naturally my goals are for the first round, but it is going to be a blessing just to be drafted period considering I had to take the long route to get here. The Underclassman Advisory Panel gave me a top of the 2nd round grade.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott Wright: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions and good luck!

He also comes across very well in the interview. Confident but not cocky. Seems intelligent and like a hard worker. If we release Putz, he's a real first round possibility for us.

Well, Jake would have someone who he can throw that fade route to. I'd love to see him here, but I doubt it happens.

Its not just about the fade route.

Its about jake's tendancy and almost SOP of throwing off the mark. especially behind the guy. Especially when he's going through the middle. Just ask Jeb Putzier. POPE is big enough with GREAT REACH to come up with alot of Jake's errant throws...

We need bigger, taller, hopefully more athletic players in our receiving/TE corp to make up for jake's inaccuracy.

POPE is the Man. I'm telling you guys, if the right coach gets a hold of him and utilizes him right, he is going to be Dyn-O-Mite!!

The guy is a miss-match ready to happen, and we all know Shanahan loves his miss matches!!!

That's a thought I have had. Since there aren't any WRs in the draft or FA and it is a definite weakness, draft one of these pass receiving TE's to fill the receiving void.

Thats what I am saying/ have been saying. Especially in regards to POPE. He will be within our reach, and literally, almost every ball thrown will be within his.

POPE is going to be a MONSTER. He will create Awesome Miss-matches, and I want him on our TEAM!!!

If we don't reach up for V. Davis...Pope is a good option and even tho we have alot of TE's, I keep telling you people that we need TE's on the edge against a 3-4 defense....I he can run a 4.55 he's a good option at 260...at TE it's more finding the free spot that being a streaker like Lelie....

How much did our nintendo offense give us in the AFC game?

It's very hard to predict, but I want some moving around on draft day...first order is to get our cap right....and dammit Bowlen...git er done with this CBA....I never give up hope...but the meeting went terrible and both sides are going into their corners staring at each other in the ring....It's not lookin' good and it's a showdown between the owners more than the players and owners.

Guys, if he runs a 4.5, he'll jump Vernon Davis in the rankings. 6'7" TE, built like a truck, the best run blocker, etc....

Sounds to me like he is the same as Mercedes Lewis... Just an inch taller.

But in all honesty i like all 3 of the top tight ends. Any of them would be a huge improvement over what we have.

Pope has got way more reach. He's got long arms, and in every game I saw him in (which was only a few) he caught everything thrown his way...

The question is would you want Shanahan to trade up to get this guy? Pope looks like he would help this team immensely...

We will find out their measurables this weekend, but I don't think you could go wrong with any of the 3.

Having said that... if Davis performs at the combine like people think he will there is no chance of Pope jumping over him.

So our choice is really between Pope or Lewis... I'm good with either.

Yea, one of those three will be available when we pick...

Most likely Pope or Lewis, but whatever...

He would be a very nice with one of the first rounders should the team not pay Putz his 1.5 million in early March. Duke is a nice project and all, but Pope is a huge weapon. I like Lewis a little better, but I like both of them and would be happy with either.

What's the deal with Lewis' 40 time? Everything I'm reading is saying that he's slow as hell...

I remember seeing a few games of his when UCLA played UW. He was a weapon, definitely.

He probably wont time well...something like 4.7, but he has it on the field. He can do pretty much everything, including stretch it deep, just doesnt seem to have the 40 time. But he is the real deal, and will become a very good NFL TE in a year or two.
